Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't updated this blog in a while (not that anyone reads it). Just wanted to give a quick update on my weight. To be honest, I stopped exercising in a routine fashion after school started in September. However, due to my new-found metabolism, I've been able to maintain my weight, and actually lose a bit more! As of right now, I'm hovering around 190 pounds (86 kg). I've lost around 60 pounds (27 kg) since June (when I was around 250 lb / 113 kg), and 70 pounds overall (32 kg), from when I was at my heaviest (around 260 lb / 118 kg)! The main goal now is to maintain, and perhaps, next summer, I'll try to replace some of that fat mass with more muscle mass. Good luck to anyone out there trying to improve their weight! It's totally possible, and totally worth it! I believe in you!

Sorry I've been absent from the forums so often these days! Lots of stuff going on. But hey, at least I found my old Christmas avatar!

Something you suck at, but want to master.
TheTEChguy27 replied to Smarts's topic in General Discussion
I really, REALLY wish I had the talent of drawing. No matter how much I try, it would take me hours on end to draw something half-way decent, while someone with artistic talent could do it without even thinking. I suppose I make up for that in my piano and percussion playing abilities (which are still far from any definition of "master"), but I still haven't been able to get around the guitar. The layout of the notes is completely foreign to me, and I only know how to play a few basic chords. But if I ever get the time to, I'd love to get better at it. So, yeah. Drawing and guitar. I'd give my left kidney to be able to master either.- 123 replies

If you enjoy science fiction, satire, complete randomness, and/or books about Earth being destroyed to make way for an intergalactic highway, then you'll love The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Seriously, there haven't been many books that have had me, literally, laughing out loud... but this is one of the few that has. At least read the first novel, and if you like that, there's more where that came from. I don't really know how to explain everything that happens in the novel, but I'll give you a little snippet to let you know what you're in for: There's a part where the main characters are riding in a spaceship that runs on "infinite improbability" - when they attempt to dodge a rocket flying at them, the ship's "improbability calculator" created a situation that resulted in "the breakage of three coffee cups and a mouse cage, the bruising of somebody's upper arm, and the untimely creation and sudden demise of a bowl of petunias and an innocent sperm whale". If that doesn't convince you to read this book, I don't know what will.

I play keyboard and percussion instruments. I'm relatively tall (around 6'3"/1.9 m). I used to be pretty overweight, but I've lost about 45 pounds/20 kg since June and the number's still going down. I suppose I'm a "nerd" and "gamer", but those sorts of labels annoy me so I usually don't use them (that includes "brony"). I like math and science, and I intend to major in Computer Science, Software Development, or some related field when I go through college. I suck at history, but I enjoy learning about it. Mostly. I currently only speak English (and a pointless amount of Spanish), but I really want to learn German. I have a YouTube channel where I upload animations (usually created with Source Filmmaker) and other stuff that I've made. I'm not a very social person, but I have good friends. I enjoy classic rock, progressive rock, classical, jazz, jazz fusion, chiptune... the list goes on! I'm not a very opinionated person and I really hate political arguments. Not Democrat or Republican. My favorite pony (at least visual design-wise) is technically Rainbow Dash, but I love all of the mane six.

technology What electronics do you own?
TheTEChguy27 replied to I_wesley125's topic in Media Discussion
-A PC (too lazy to fish out the specs right now, it can run most modern games on high settings) -Really old laptop -iPad 2 -Nintendo Wii, Wii U, 3DS, DSi, Game Boy Advance SP -PlayStation 2 -Electronic keyboard (Yamaha YPG-235) -Samsung Intensity 3 (relatively basic phone) -Other simple electronic devices (like an alarm clock) I'm probably forgetting -
I totally read that in Dr. Weird's voice. Also, that's a very nice piece of artwork! Blue and purple against yellow always looks cool to me, and you pulled it off very well.

I suppose one of my worse traits is actually a combination of two traits: I'm a bit OCD and do a lot of extra schoolwork, but I also procrastinate a lot. Those two traits are in constant battle inside my mind. As long as the OCD trait wins, I do fine with school. The problem is when I have summer assignments, because my procrastination trait always wins during the summer. I'm also socially awkward and it's hard for me to take compliments. Whenever someone compliments me, I get hung up just trying to say "thank you" in one way or another. It's pretty pathetic. I'm not sure why I'm like that, it might be because arrogance is a pet peeve of mine and I try desperately to not brag about anything. I don't know why I think "thank you" is bragging.

gaming Cookie Clicker, the most fun (and pointless) game on the internet?
TheTEChguy27 replied to \/'s topic in Media Discussion
OH GOD, WHY HAVE YOU INTRODUCED ME TO THIS GAME. SO MANY COOKIES. I'm going to end up breaking my mouse if I keep playing at this rate. -
mega thread Why did you choose your avatar/profile pic?
TheTEChguy27 replied to ~Rule 63~ Lyeco's topic in General Discussion
Mine's a gif of Crash Bandicoot right now, because... I dunno, I like Crash Bandicoot and I felt like it. However, it's usually this: That guy on the left is the Sniper from Team Fortress 2 with a burger on his head. ...I dunno, I made him as a sort of TF2 persona a couple years ago and he stuck. I rendered a picture of him in Source Filmmaker, then added Rainbow Dash and the MLP background to make an avatar that I use exclusively for this site! -
Does anyone still have nightmares?
TheTEChguy27 replied to Faulty Roze's topic in General Discussion
I didn't even know people "stopped" having nightmares, I just assumed it was something that always occurred every once and a while your entire life. At least, that's how it's been for me so far. Sure, my nightmares have changed as I've gotten older, but they still leave me waking up terrified. Especially when I get sleep paralysis... oh man, that's the worse... Imagine seeing Jeff the Killer in a dream, waking up, and being unable to move. Fun stuff! -
Windows Media Player gets the job done for the most part, but can get clogged up if you have a ton of music. VLC's a great program for any sort of media. Foobar2000's also very good, and it lets you convert into a variety of sound files. Winamp's alright, I just never got into it that much. iTunes works fine, but it organizes things a bit oddly sometimes and has to convert .wma files into its own format for usage. All in all, try out a few of the programs (they're all free) and stick with whichever one you prefer! Oh, and if you ever want to edit sound files, Audacity works swimmingly.

gaming Video games you WISH you could play?
TheTEChguy27 replied to Xievie's topic in Media Discussion
As far as "games I literally can't play due to hardware constraints" goes, I'd really like to play The Last of Us. I just don't have a PS3 and don't want to buy one just for a single game. And as far as "HOW DO I ANYTHING IN THIS GAME" goes, Dota 2. Hands down. I really enjoy it, but trying to get over the learning curve is like trying to hike up the Grand Canyon backwards with your limbs sawed off. -
Uranus. ...No, seriously. Uranus is arguably the most unique of the eight planets, what with the entire planet and its rings looking like they've been turned sideways. It's the only planet in the solar system that rotates like that, and it's a shame that its name has turned it into something that you can't talk about seriously without someone in the room giggling. And for those of you who still want Pluto to be a planet, go read up on the "Kuiper belt".

gaming The most money you've wasted on a game?
TheTEChguy27 replied to Clockwork Chaos's topic in Media Discussion
I've spent more money than I'm willing to count/admit in Team Fortress 2. I don't do it as much anymore, but I used to be obsessed with hats, trading, keys, and everything else. Be that as it may, I've STILL never unboxed an unusual hat. The only one I got was by trading my Buds away, and the guy I traded with was pretty desperate. -
I like my full first name, Timothy, but I prefer to just be called Tim. One-syllable names just roll off the tongue better, and since my last name is also just one syllable long, it works pretty well. The fact that my dad and I have the exact same name, however, can get a bit confusing, at least when doing paperwork. I always have to remember to add "Jr." at the end of everything. Oh, and Timmy is out of the question. Even though people still call me that.

Ever accidentally scared someone to death?
TheTEChguy27 replied to GhostPony750's topic in General Discussion
Quite a while ago, I got hit with a screamer that REALLY got me off guard. I had headphones on and everything. I apparently screamed like a banshee before ripping my headphones off and closing the window. My parents thought I'd sawed my leg off or something, but once they realized I was just being a wimp surprised by "something", everything was fine. -
Skyrim is extremely overrated (not bad, but not as amazing as some people make it out to be). Most Garry's Mod videos nowadays are awful. I don't like most 2D Sonic games, there's too many obstacles/enemies for the speed that you're supposed to go at (or vice-versa), and losing all of your coins every time you get hit is annoying as hell. I enjoy the first Half-Life a bit more than Half-Life 2. Rockstar sucks at porting. New Super Mario Bros. 2/U weren't necessary and shouldn't have been made. They're decent enough, but they really don't need to exist. I thought Bioshock Infinite's ending was cool. I don't like MOBAs (like LoL, DotA, and others). Saints Row the Third is fun for what it is. I liked The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I don't really like RPGs that much, besides the Mario & Luigi series. If one more person tries shoving Earthbound down my throat, I'm going to slap them. Through the internet. With a knife. These are just my personal opinions, so feel free to disagree.

I'm not very critical or subjective at all. I'd be an awful critic. Nit-picking at anything and everything just kind of takes the fun out of whatever you're trying to enjoy. I can find flaws in what I enjoy, sure, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. In other words, when asked to provide an opinion on most things...

What languages do you know or want to learn?
TheTEChguy27 replied to Mint Petal's topic in General Discussion
I used to know some basic Spanish, but that's all pretty much gone now. I'd really like to learn German, though, because I have a bit of German in my blood... and because if I wanted to ask someone to pet my cat in German, I could say: WOLLEN SIE ZU STREICHELN MEINE KATZE?! (Or something like that, I don't really trust Google Translate.) Anyways, it just seems like a fun language to speak. -
If you had 3 wishes, what would they be?
TheTEChguy27 replied to Ninja Derpy's topic in General Discussion
1. I wish Nicki Minaj would take up accounting or something instead of "rapping", or whatever it is she thinks she's doing. 2. I wish for artistic ability (I can't draw anything to save my life). 3. I wish for three more wishes. I WISH JEFF THE KILLER AND SCREAMERS IN GENERAL JUST DIDN'T EXIST ENTIRELY -
Changed my avatar to Crash Bandicoot because why not.

I bought a PS2 this past month just so I could play it again! I had it as a kid, and was never able to beat it. The PS2 I played it on is long gone, but with the new one, I was finally able to beat it. My childhood is now complete.

Well, it's been nearly two months since my first "Losing Weight" blog post, and my weight loss has been going pretty well so far! As of right now, I'm about 225 pounds (102 kg), down from 251 pounds (114 kg) in the first post. That's just about 10% of my body weight! To be honest, I don't expect to hit my original 200 pound (91 kg) goal before school starts, but it doesn't really matter. Weight loss is weight loss, and as long as I keep doing what I'm doing, I should be able to keep it up during the school year. If I could give any advice to someone who wants to lose weight, all I could say is eat less and work out more. As long as you're burning more calories than you're shoving into your face, you're going to lose weight! You don't have to starve yourself, but try cutting out as many carbs as you can. White bread, crackers, and other snacks are loaded with them. Cutting down on sugar, fat, and all that other bad stuff is sort of a given, and the most important thing of all is to stay positive! Try eating some more healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables! If it weren't for this weight loss, I would've never known that I like bananas and taco salads! As far as working out is concerned, I do it for an hour every weekday. Whether or not that's enough/not enough for you depends on your body type, weight, metabolism, and a lot of other factors. Do as much as you can, but don't over-strain your body. At LEAST 30 minutes 3-5 days a week should be the minimum. It's hard at first, but once you get used to the routine, it's not so bad. Don't give up! I probably won't make another weight-related blog post soon, but I won't abandon this! See you guys later!

6'3" (about 1,9 meters) tall and 230 lb (about 104 kg). I was at about 251 lb (about 114 kg) a couple months ago, but I've started to stop being lazy and exercise/diet. I plan to get down to somewhere in the range of 180-200 pounds (about 82-91 kg) before I go into a "maintaining" stage. Hope the added metric measurements help. Wish we used it.
