Ash was born and raised in Anima City, where while he had more peace and safety than he would have if he were living in Japan, he was still quite nervous and anxious, as there were always gangs trying to kill each other, terrorist attacks by the humans (especially the Anti-Beastman front). After he turned 21, he made his way to Equestria where he set up a small cafe.
