Wishgriff

Wishgriff is the elder of two twin fraternal twin siblings born to a working class family on Mount Aris.  Her younger, fraternal, twin brother is named Bottlegriff.  She was named Wishgriff for a very special reason.  

You see, when Wishgriff and Bottlegriff’s mother was early in her pregnancy with Wishgriff and Bottlegriff, a comet flew by Equestria and it was visible from Mount Aris.  Wishgriff and Bottlegriff’s mother has suffered two miscarriages and two stillbirths prior to that night so during that night, as she saw the comet fly by her house, she made a wish upon that comet that her future children will survive childbirth.  When her children were born, they were healthy and alive and she believed their birth to be a wish come true and so, she named the elder of the two twins Wishgriff.  

Wishgriff and Bottlegriff grew up on Mount Aris.  When they were older, they attended the School of Friendship.  They study there to this day.  Initially, they were normal hippogriffs studying at the School of Friendship.  However, while on vacation in Saddle Arabia, an incident changed everything.  You see, during the afternoon of the first day of the vacation, Wishgriff wandered away from her family for a while and met a stallion.  That stallion asked Wishgriff if she would like to have magic powers and gave her a magic bottle.  Wishgriff agreed because she always wanted to have some sort of magic powers and the stallion took Wishgriff to his house where he opened the bottle and Wishgriff was sucked in.  

The next morning, Bottlegriff came to the stallion’s house and opened Wishgriff’s bottle first not knowing she was in there.  Since Bottlegriff released Wishgriff first, Bottlegriff became Wishgriff’s master.  This would have put the two of them in a precarious position (since now, Bottlegriff had some sort of responsibility and authority over her sister when initially, it was her sister who had more responsibilities and authority over him).  Wishgriff decided that she will remain a genie forever since she still preferred keeping her new found magic, even if it came at a cost (she also desired to make other creatures satisfied by granting their wishes).  Bottlegriff then gave Wishgriff the ability to grant wishes herself. Life hasn’t changed much since after Wishgriff became a genie; she still attends school like a normal hippogriff and does things normally.  However, she now sleeps in her bottle with Bottlegriff since he is responsible for making sure nothing bad happens to her or her bottle (they have been sleeping in same room since their youth).

Wishgriff’s genie attire is actually more than just a decoration.  Her golden wingtips with gems are where her magic comes from.  The gem on her headband stores the memory of past wishes.  And about the golden bracelets and pink, translucent leggings with golden leg braces?  It is speculated to be some sort of magic anchor since when she’s in her genie tailed form, the magic comes from her bottle and maybe the magic transferred there when Bottlegriff wished for Wishgriff to gain her legs back.
