Cutie Mark: Ascen's cutie mark is a syringe. The syringe itself shows his talent with chemicals and creating new medicines. However, the cutie mark comes with a sharper than normal needle, representing the conditions in which Ascen received his cutie mark.

Personality: Ascen is a fairly compassionate pony. He doesn't charge for his medical skills for the poor and doesn't discriminate on what type of pony he heals. However, Ascen sees his medical skills as something not to use lightly. He's very wary and careful, almost to a fault when it comes to his medicine. In that regard, he's obsessed with the oath that all medical ponies take and never wants to break it again.<br /><br />He's very smooth as a talker and doesn't have any problem with conning ponies out of their money with fake medicine and flashy shows. Ascen has no fear of jails and the law. Ascen is also very snide, witty, and overall a bit of a jerk towards strangers, especially towards ponies who are snooty and have lots of pride. <br /><br />Ascen can be a great friend but he's fairly selfish. He tolerates ponies and lets them get close to him but Ascen tries hard not to get truly attached to them. He fails many times though. Ascen is very careful in relationships, both friendship and romance. He's not very patient and not too hard to anger. While he's getting angry or impatient, his snide attitude surfaces.

Backstory: Ascen Medens Cross was born to a very rich family that gained its money off of brutally ripping money off of people in exchange for medicine while sucking up to the royal class. Ascen was treated only slightly better, always expected to surpass his prodigy brother who was already an experienced magic user when Ascen was 5. When Ascen was 8 years old, he was kidnapped in the middle of the night and his villa was burned down.<br /><br />His kidnappers were very intelligent ponies who wanted to bring down the wealthy. Every single one suffered some tragedy, whether it be a child who wasn't heir to a wealthy family or somepony who was crushed by a wealthy family. The kidnappers were stationed in an underground bunker of sorts, made of wood in Stalliongrad. As a child. Ascen was trained by the group to study healing magics, chemistry, biology, and medicine. Ascen was treated very well in the group, much better than his parents. Though all he did was eat, sleep, basic exercises, and study. It was routine and all mannerisms beyond the closely knit Brotherhood system that the group had escaped Ascen. <br /><br />Then, when Ascen was able to heal his first pony, a scout from the bunker that was injured, his Cutie Mark appeared. Right when that happened, the leader of the bunker made him take a medical oath. "Do no harm" and "The hand of a medical professional is more dangerous than a thousand swords" were ones that Ascen would later have to break. <br /><br />Ascen began medical projects under pretenses that they're using it to help the poor of Equestria. One of Ascen's research projects were used to severely injure a Royal Guard. After seeing his medical projects used to harm another pony rather than heal, as he gave his oath, devastated him. However, he still clung to the group because of his kinship loyalty and nervously awaited the massive investigation that would soon follow. <br /><br />The investigation came swiftly and the group was tried in Celestia's court. Many were exiled or jailed. Ascen though, he was simply freed after a few months of interrogation and "reeducation", being the youngest and least indoctrinated into the group's ideology. However, after investigation, Ascen had no home. No family. Nothing. After wandering the land for a time, he met a wandering con artist and learned from him, along with the stallion's mannerisms. Now, Ascen wanders Equestria as a sort of con artist and also a healer for the sick.
