Auburn Rose
By Fractured
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Species: Earth Pony
Appearance: Body: Auburn coat. Short haired. Vertically challenged. Lightweight. Very muscular, despite her small size.

Eyes: Bright green. Usually shining.

Voice:
Below average pitch. Rises and falls, and relies heavily on inflection.

Mane:
Dull fiery red. Long, soft and wavy.
Personality: Auburn Rose is best characterized by an exuberance for living that would give most ponies pause. Every moment is THE moment to her, and if she's wasting a single second, then there's a second she won't get back again; it's the most egregious of crimes to her.

That's not to say that she can't slow down, merely that she strives to pull the most out of every moment, no matter how it's been given to her. Even simple things such as talking with friends or moments spent by herself are all calculated into how she can make it the best experience possible for everyone involved. Life is too short, after all.

Naturally, gets hurt and offended very easily, as a side effect of always putting herself to the rails at every occasion. Tends to blow through the small things, but shoulders the larger things, so that oftentimes it can be hard to tell when she's been hurt by something, even to those close to her. Doesn't like to burden others with her issues, or ask for help unless she's exhausted all options.

Is a natural livewire with tons of energy to spare, and could exhaust a rock, if given enough time. Her energy isn't explosive, however, but rather long stretched; she just keeps going until she gets whatever she wants to accomplish done. And with her often equal parts contagious personality, infinite personality, and complete bull-headedness, she often gets it done. Doesn't tend to take most losses on the chin, though she will if it's particularly important to her. Or, on the other hand, she feels that she didn't put her absolute all into whatever she happened to be doing.

Is completely comfortable around strangers, and absolutely loves children, having a bit of a childish side herself, and moreso expresses it when she's given the absolute room to. Isn't stupid, however; she's perfectly capable of understanding when a situation is critical. Is intelligent, and while she often is impulsive and has very poor short range planning, can come up with impressive ideas if given the time to sit down and think. Has little formal education, but is incredibly street-smart, and recognizes situations around her for what they are very quickly.

Strengths:
Very headstrong and likes to take charge
Very social and loves to connect with others
Has a great sense of direction
Skilled in foraging, self-defense, and first aid

Weaknesses:
Often impulsive and likes to run head first into situations
Lacking in advanced (past starting school) education
Stubbornness can get the best of her at times
Slight breathing troubles from years of living under the smoke and dust of her town

Likes:
Rain
Snow
Gemstones
Fighting
Adventure

Dislikes:
Obstinance
Wasted potential
Self-Pity
Backstory: Born in a rinky dink, podunk, backwater town on the western side of Equestria. Though her life was never exactly what anyone would call critically below standards (she had a home, a school, and accessible power), it was still well below the level of a place like Ponyville. Coupled with its far away distance from most civilization, and the general passive and accepting attitudes of its residents, it was a place where few ever came, and few ever left.

A town capitalized by its gray skies, and productions in timber and a rare metal known for its magic absorbing properties, every day was roughly the same shade of similar circumstances; wake up, eat, move to the mines again, eat, sleep, rinse, repeat. The mine was the town's greatest resource, but also its most tragic circumstance, as accidents happened frequently, and the minerals mined were dangerous to anyone who treated them incorrectly. Even with the resident's forknowledge and magical adaptations, lives were short, and often lost on a consistent basis.

Auburn worked the mines along with everypony else, to the point where even her vibrant red coat was stained a dusty gray. However, unlike those around her, she never learned to sit back and passively accept life. Instead, she learned to appreciate it for what it was, like the roses that grew around the perimeter of the town's dusty skies; short lived. And beautiful.

The roses she discovered were her own secret. Living outside the vicinity of the town, but buried under its ash just like everything else, she hadn't been aware of their existence. But as she wiped the dust away, something shocked her

She carried that attitude with her like a ray of light in the darkest caverns, and it was this attitude that eventually lead her to do the impossible; leaving the town for a better life, though she had no clue what that could possibly entail. She just knew it had to be better than where she was. Slipping on a backpack stacked with nothing but small amounts of food, and one of the roses from the town's fields, she set off into Equestria proper.
