Axton Gile
By J.R.
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: Dull red body, dull blue mane and tail, and dull blue eyes.
Cutie Mark: 3-Bladed Scythe; his signature combat weapon.
Personality: He is very crazed and relentless. He usually will not stop and think when it comes to anything, and sometimes rushes in without a plan. He also prefers to be alone rather than socialize with anypony. However, if there is anypony he considers a "friend", he will be more open and talk a bit, but he's usually a pony of few words. Because of this, it might be difficult for him to make new friends due to his somewhat anti-social, and crazy demeanor.

Interestingly, while he does feel pain, he actually doesn't mind it. with his crazy nature, he doesn't usually find time to get crazy over getting hurt until sometime later. Lastly, he has a bit of a personality disorder. One minute he may act aloof, the next moment he'll be up for a conversation, and then he'll act crazed and demented out of nowhere.
Backstory: Axton was born into a dysfunctional family living in Hollow Shades. His family was very poor, and could hardly afford anything outside of his basic necessities. He barely got enough to eat, and was even sometimes verbally abused by his parents. There was so much tension in his home that his parents fought almost everyday, and it was starting to get to Axton's head.

Axton felt so bad for his parents. His mom always did her best to put food on the table, but was unable to cook any more than 3 meals a day. And his dad was doing his best at his job, but wasn't getting paid that much due to only being able to work as a part-time blacksmith who made knives and swords. But nopony was buying his weaponry because of the lack of decent materials to purchase. And because of their financial instability, Axton's parents would argue a lot. Axton felt that enough was enough, but there was literally nothing he could do since he was young at the time, and would lie awake at night to wonder if there was ever anything he could do. And after a few years, and when he was 10, his time came.

One night, while Axton was asleep, he saw a strange pony-shaped figure outside his window. He thought to himself that he probably didn't get enough sleep, and tried to shake it off. But the figure would not leave, and eventually enter his room. The strange pony presented himself as a friend wearing a mask, and offered Axton the ability to make his parents live in prosperity and stop fighting each other. All Ax had to do, was simply sign his name onto a contract to make everything the way he wanted. Axton thought for a moment about what he should do. He knew that strangers were never usually that worth trusting, and found it strange that this pony was in his room. But he still blamed it on his overactive imagination. Axton was still skeptical for a moment, ad even asked what the pony wanted in return. All he said was, "Your soul."

Ax scoffed. He figured there was no way that somepony could take his soul from him. So eventually, he gave in when he knew his parents needed this. Axton signed his name, and with a flash of the strange pony's horn, he was out of the room. In actuality, the strange pony was a Tartarian soulkeeper who had cast a curse onto Axton. When the time was right, the spell would be set into motion...

The next morning, Ax woke up to his mom and dad happily talking to each other, had a huuuge load of bits, and food for years. Apparently the deal was worth making. Axton was happy, his parents were happy, and everything was fine. his parents to live for many years happily, but all that soon changed.

Axton came home from school one night, to celebrate his parents' 50th wedding anniversary. He came to their house to see no one around, until he heard what he thought was screaming down in the basement. He went down there to see the basement empty until he was knocked out.

When he woke up, he was tied to a chair, and confused. That's when he saw his parents were being held captive by robbers. The robbers wanted everything valuable that Axton's family owned, but not one of them spoke up. So then a choice had to be made. It was either Axton or his parents, and a choice had to be made right then and there or else no one would make it out. And because his parents felt that Axton was too young, and decided to let their son live for them as long as he was set free afterwards. Once the decision was made, Axton was forced to watch as his parents were mortally injured by the thugs.

Axton was mortified at the sight, and wanted to stop them, but couldn't. He had no choice except to sit and watch his parents fall victim to the thugs' attacks. When they were done, Ax's mom and dad were lying on the floor, motionless, while the thugs were about to leave. Suddenly, the spell that the soulkeeper cast onto Axton started to take effect. His horn started to glow, and out of nowhere, a black spear was summoned, and attacked the thugs. Once their bodies were lying on the ground, 2 souls, one for each thug, exited the bodies. It turns out, that those were Tartarian souls that had taken over the bodies of 2 innocent ponies, turning them evil. The souls wanted to cause pain and misery to happily living ponies. And they felt, "What better way to cause misery than to an old couple on their 50th anniversary?"

Axton went crazy. He felt mentally damaged by the experience, and could not bring himself to words. After the screams were heard from outsiders, the paramedics arrived and found the bodies of 4 ponies, and a lone foal. Unfortunately, none of the bodies survived, and Axton had to live in a orphanage ever since.

Because Axton exhibited crazed and demented behavior, nopony wanted to adopt him, and he was stuck in the orphanage up until he was 18. But every time it was night, the soulkeeper's curse took effect, and caused Axton to lose control of his body, summon the black spear and green scythe, and sneak out the orphanage to seek escaped souls that have manifested within the bodies' of innocent ponies. He was doing a really good job, but he was taking out innocent ponies in the process, which caused grounds for an investigation.

The Canterlot Guard scientists ran tests on DNA and injuries found at the scene, including triple slashes on trees everywhere, and hair that belonged to only one pony: Axton. Since he was 18, he was tried as an adult, and put before the court, and the only punishment that was seen fit, was banishment...to Tartarus. Effective immediately, Axton was henceforth banished in solitary down to Tartarus for the next 45 years.

While he was down there, he started to get even crazier, and angrier as he developed personality disorders. He was starting to get more and more mentally unstable as he was down there, until a familiar face returned. The soulkeeper.

The soulkeepr explained what happened, and why Axton went on those rampages at night. He also explained to him the curse, and the deal when he was younger. And now, Axton was stuck in Tatarus. Fortunately however, because the banishment was temporary, albeit long, Axton could get out, and turn his life around.

Because Ax had a track record at this point, it would be very difficult for him to earn a job the normal way. So because of this, the soulkeeper offered a proposition: Work as his Soulhunter, and receive good pay, or leave Tartarus, and be unable to find a decent job for the rest of his life. Axton had no choice, and because his life was as bad as it was already was, he had no other good choice besides to accept the offer, and become a Soulhunter. In exchange for being a Soulhunter, the soulkeeper offered him a very good pay grade, as well as the ability to keep the Curse of The Soulhunter.

Axton made the agreement, and from then on, was taught by the soulkeeper how to manifest and use his scythe and spear both at once in combat. As well as how to avoid taking out innocents in the process of removing an evil soul from their body. And once his sentence in Tartarus was complete, he bid the soulkeeper goodbye, and left to hunt down missing souls.
