Cutie Mark: A circle crossed by two lances, signifying her proficiency with the weapons, and her desire for combat.
Personality: Very intelligent. Has an understanding of people and situations, and an understanding of how best to use them to her advantage. Often plans far ahead, but is also capable of making short term adjustments as the situation changes. Is both street smart, and book smart. Learns quickly, and is well versed in several subjects, though she is most proficient in psychology, and weapon proficiency.

Extremely competitive. Likes to be the best at whatever she's doing, and will give it her all when a challenge is presented. Just as well, likes the challenge that others present to her, and has a superiority complex that often causes her to play games to prove her superiority, or to play into others games. Though she's relaxed a little since joining the guard, is still not above manipulation in order to get what she wants.

Very mature. She's sometimes underhanded in the course of setting up a competition, but is surprisingly fair when she gets to it. Accepts her losses, and won't go after those who have beaten her fair and square, though she will come back if she feels she's been slighted. Also understands and accepts the consequences of her actions, both positive and negative, and will follow them, even unto ultimate detriment, if she feels it's necessary.
Backstory: Benevolence was born into one of Canterlot's higher circles, having the comfort of living a happy, well adjusted life. However, the sense of calm and complacency was an anathema to the growing filly, who craved excitement more than anything. When she couldn't get it, she made her own, and vandalism, defacing public property, and graffiti were just a few of the ways she went bout to get it. For many months, she kept up her acitivities, until naturally, she was caught, and kept detained under house arrest for a short amount of time. It was only a plea from her parents (and a gratuitous sum of money) that got the sentence lifted, and she was allowed to leave her home in peace. Months later, however, the activities would begin all over again.

As the frequency and intensity of the crimes began to increase, her parents finally decided enough was enough. Sending a message to the royal guard discussing the problem, they were sent over to pick her up. Upon arriving, however, they were treated to a surprise; her battle savvy, being able to beat one guard and outwit several before ultimately being overwhelmed. Impressed with her skill, she was offered a choice on the spot; join the royal guard, and only receive a light punishment, or refuse, and be given a heavy one. Begrudgingly, Benevolence accepted the former.

Arriving at the training yards on the first day, she was prepared to raise trouble for everyone involved. However, with most of the first day and weeks following concluding with her flat on her back, after another grueling session, she began to realize that this was what she had been searching for all along. A chance for excitement, and to be better than she ever could have been in the blandness of her home life. Destiny now realized, she gave it her all, moving up through the ranks quickly, and achieving the position of Lancer. Being a royal guard would never be easy. But Benevolence was okay with that.
