Appearance: Bevel Gear has a stocky build. His coat is a dark, dusty grey colour, often giving the impression of dirtiness even when it is clean. He has a short black mane and tail. Both mane and tail are rather unkempt with light grey streaks running through them. Bevel's eyes are a smokey blue.

Cutie Mark: Bevel Gear's cutie mark depicts two meshed gears, one smaller than the other. They are both a much darker shade of grey than his coat; they look almost black. They represent Bevel's ability to work with and understand machinery.<br /><br />Bevel's father worked as a train operator and mechanic. When Bevel was still a colt, his father took him out for a day, to show Bevel what it was like working with the steam trains.<br /><br />Bevel's father had many repairs to do. When he opened up the engine of the first train, Bevel was enchanted. Turning gears and moving pistons. These things seemed absolutely wonderful to Bevel.<br /><br />When he saw this, his father gave him a pile of old parts to play around with while he worked. Upon returning, Bevel's father pointed to his flank. Bevel had achieved his cutie mark, a symbol of working with machinery.

Personality: Quiet, a perfectionist, melancholy, pessimistic. Bevel tends to see the glass half empty. Although generally non-confrontational, he doesn't have a problem with pointing out every wrong detail with somepony else's ideas if he knows them well enough. He has a strong sense of morality.<br /><br />Bevel tends to be quite disinterested in the lives of other ponies, and being an introvert, he prefers instead his own company or his own activities: Inventing, repairing machinery, and the like. <br /><br />Bevel Gear can easily become almost obsessed with a particular project or idea, and he's not one to quit because things get hard. He will quit very quickly, however, when he loses interest, which happens frequently. Bevel's pessimistic side comes out quite strongly when he lacks interest.

Backstory: Bevel grew up in a country house with his mother and father, not too far from town. Bevel's father worked at a nearby train station, operating and fixing trains. His mother owns a small florist shop in town. She grows most of her own produce.<br /><br />Bevel's father came from the country, but Bevel's mother had grown up in Canterlot. Bevel's mother was a big influence on how Bevel chose to act, and even his accent. He was much more quiet than the other country town colts. He also strangely picked up his mother's accent, which resulted in occasional of bullying at school. Secretly, he is proud of it.
