The Shadow Stallion
    • Age: Stallion 18-19 years

      Gender: Male

      Species: Pegasus

Appearance: Stands slightly taller then most other stallion's his age by about two to three inches. He is more slender then other stallions as well though. He has a long, wild, dark mane that covers half of his face. His tail is wild and the same color as his mane. He has calm, dark brown eyes. His hide is a light grey color.

He wears a long slightly tattered dark grey cloak with a hood. Underneath this cloak he wears some light saddlebags where he keeps his books and a sword in its sheathe.

Cutie Mark: A book with twin swords crossing behind it. A bit like a jolly roger but instead of bones, its swords, and instead of a skull its a book. The book has a small black heart on its cover.

Personality: Tends to be shy to strangers and is even somewhat closed when it comes to his friends. He is slow to trust, but rather quick to anger. He hates injustice and bullies and admires courage and honor. He strives to be just and friendly, but his shyness prevents him from actively searching friends. He is brave when it comes to facing danger and he works at his best in stressful situations. He usually averts his eyes from others or hides behind his hair or hood. He is the most stalwart friend and ally to have and a rather bitter enemy. He has no reservations when it comes to an enemy or bully.

Backstory: Blackheart came from a small, but deep rooted family of warrior-librarians. His family was dedicated to finding, preserving, and protecting the knowledge of the world. They travel to the deepest ruins and darkest corners of libraries to find hidden and lost knowledge and artifacts. They are trained since they are young to fight and are often taken on expeditions to recover lost artifacts, texts, etc. Some of these are powerful and others reveal secrets in history.

Blackheart's family consisted of his mother, father, and two older brothers. They were always on the road, sleeping in tents, and recovering a fair amount of ancient artifacts. It was an adventurous life. During one expedition, the family had found a young female pony about Blackheart's age lost in a ruin. They never found the poor pony's family so they adopted her as one of their own. She had been rather shy and at this time Blackheart had been more open and friendly. He and his adopted sister became close and grew up together. She learned the way of the warrior-librarian and had quite a bit of skill at sniffing out traps as well as artifacts.

However, the family was torn apart during Blackheart's eleventh year of life. During an expedition into a ruin carved into the face of a large mountain, a boobytrap had been set off. Blackheart's adopted sister was in danger of falling into a pit that dropped who knows how deep into the ground. He pushed her to the side and fell into the pit himself. Rock and stone fell around him and it was by sheer luck that he wasn't crushed or covered up by all the rubble. Instead he had landed in an underground river which carried him far away underground. His family assumed he was dead after searching for weeks through the ruins. They eventually had left with heavy hearts.

Blackheart was alive though, and lost. He awoke in an underground tomb a day or so after his fall. The river that had carried him miles underground ran past this tomb. Glowing mushrooms illuminated the place and Blackheart still had enough wit to carry some of these with him. He knew he couldn't swim or fly back up stream which he guessed where he had come from. He was lucky that he still had his saddlebags, but he was cold and soaked to the bone and his sword was missing. He saw the tomb and recognized what it was even at this young age. He decided to explore it.

He drove into the darkness and stepped upon ground that had not been walked on in centuries. He braved the depths and finally came to the actual grave of whatever pony lie here. Blackheart shivered as he had gotten colder as he had went deeper into the ground. Blackheart examined nearby engravings and rightfully assumed that whoever this pony was, that they were a great warrior of some sort. As he went to read the name a ghostly figure had appeared before him.

It was the ghost of the warrior-pony. The ghost and Blackheart both spoke with one another, Blackheart being deathly afraid inside, but showing his courage on the outside. Blackheart also revealed he and his family's purpose and how he had lost his family recently and quite literally lost them. The ghost respected the young colt's bravery and purpose and decided to present the young colt with three gifts. The ghost reached into his own grave and pulled out a long and slightly tattered cloak, a fine and eversharp ancient sword, and an ancient book detailing the warrior-pony's past and thoughts. When the colt was done donning the cloak and blade with its new sheathe as well as putting the book in his saddlebag, he looked up to find the ghost had vanished.

Blackheart left, still afraid. Into the dark he continued to march. It wouldn't be until later when he read the book that he would find out that the ghost was an ancient ancestor of his called Braveheart the Noble.

For five years the young colt wandered through the dark underground alone. It was a solemn existence and it introverted the colt. He made sure to keep the cloak, blade, and book safe though. He fed on mushrooms and drank from underground rivers.

Eventually he was found by an expedition of miner ponies. They brought the young colt nearing stallionhood back to civilization, but he was so shy and introverted from spending years alone that he couldn't really talk to them. After managing to thank them by telling them where a rare mineral deposit was, he left.

He set out into the world to find knowledge, his family, and a place to perhaps call his own. It has been two years since the young colt, now stallion had set out and still he wears his cloak, carries his ancestor's sword, and keeps his ancestor's book close to heart.

    Backstory for Resurgence RP.

Blackheart's parents were both rangers so Blackheart was often left alone at home in the citadel. He spent most of his young life in the library, reading old stories of warriorponies and of the old days in what used to be known as equestria. Sadly there were very few books remaining.

Blackheart's bookishness was looked down on by some other young ponies who thought he should be learning how to fight given his parents were both rangers. So he was bullied for being a bit of a bookworm. He took a lot of beatings and became isolated even further by these hostile actions. He didn't socialize for fear of attracting the attentions of more bullies. He didn't even have his parents to protect him given that they were out on missions most of the time.

One day, he was met by two old ponies who regretfully informed the young pony that his parents had died. They had left him a note telling young Blackheart how sorry they were and how they were just trying to create a safer world for him and the rest of the citadel's races. They wanted to make a better future for all.

It wasn't long until Blackheart joined the ranger training program. He trained as hard, if not harder than the other recruits. Blackheart had a goal, he wanted to continue his parents dream. He realized at a young age that losses like the one he had suffered were going to continue if the darkness wasn't kept at bay. He had felt such despair and sadness at the death of his parents and he wanted to prevent that from happening to anypony else.
