Changeling_Catalyst

    • Age: 26

      Gender: Male

      Species: Non-Pony

Personality: Extremely intelligent and a tad bit eccentric, Catalyst fits the 'mad scientist' trope easily, yet still tries very hard to remain grounded in reality. While at times, his cynical nature does show through, he does get along well with his friends and even takes pleasure in their jokes and silliness. A bit reclusive, he finds that his greatest times are those spent conjuring up new spells and potions, along with detailing their properties and ingredients. He is almost fanatically studious, and devoted to his research efforts.

Backstory: During the Changeling invasion of Canterlot, six special changelings were tasked with studying the Elements of Harmony in an effort to gain the power from the much-beloved and revered elements to further bolster the collective strength of the Swarm. Only able to gain a small portion of the Elements' true power before being suddenly expelled by the combined forces of Shining Armor and Princess Cadence, they continued to delve further into what traces remained in their bodies after settling into their newly established hive along the southern borders of Equestria...

Catalyst was in charge of studying the element of Magic, but with just the slight properties of magic, his reasoning behind this new power was that it had to be explained through natural terms. His followings were towards that of science and logical reasoning. As such, he feverishly began working towards searching for logical explanations to magic spells and their powerful effects. His research into more scientific-based spells and abilities have greatly expanded the Changeling Hive's library of spells, but he steadfastly refuses to accept any supernatural aspect to them, maintaining that each example of "magic" can be analyzed and deconstructed in natural and logical terms.
