Appearance: CogWheel's coat is a rather unassuming tan, and his mane and tail are an equally average brown. He does stand out as being constantly covered in oil, grease and whatever else he might've been working with. His hair is also unkempt, because who has time for fashion when there is Mad Science to be done? He typically wears a jumpsuit full of hidden pockets and tools.

Cutie Mark: Two gears turning each other, one slightly smaller than the other. Cog always had a talent for machinery and acquired his mark at a fairly young age after creating his first working invention.

Personality: Cog isn't crazy. Probably. He is simply a genius in his own field and really isn't interested in anything that doesn't relate, including other ponies, social skills, and pancakes. He is however slightly obsessed with magic (unicorn or otherwise)and constantly tries to mix it with his mechanical skills, with varied results due to his Earthponiness. While normally unreliable and busy living in his own mental world, when necessary he can be very focused and dependable.

Backstory: While many ponies might find it hard growing up in the poor industrial districts of Baltimare, it was the ideal place for Cogwheel. Born to a poor family of steel working ponies Cog spent most of his filly years alone playing with scraps of metal and pieces of broken machinery. When he was 13 he created a breakthrough steam engine and was labeled as a genius inventor. However the pressure go to him and by his 16th birthday he disappeared into the forest, only occasionally emerging for raw materials to aid his experiments.
