• Compass Meridian

    skbl17

    • Age: 19

      Gender: Male

      Species: Unicorn

Appearance: Although a portrait of him is provided above, one attribute of Compass Meridian's appearance that may be difficult to tell is his eye color, which is dark brown.

Cutie Mark: Compass Meridian's cutie mark is split into two equal regions: one for a compass rose, and one for a globe (divided into lines of latitude and longitude); this represents his experience in, and passion for, mapmaking and cartography, a hobby he has embraced since his sheltered, transient foalhood days.

Personality: Due to his family's transient nature when he was a foal, Compass Meridian found it difficult to cultivate strong, solid relationships with other ponies. As a result, he tends to be more reserved and shy towards ponies he's never met and those he isn't good friends with. However, around ponies he sees as good acquaintances, he becomes a totally different pony: bubbly, cheery, confident, and easy to talk to about anything.

Despite those two "sides" to Compass Meridian's personality, one aspect he keeps consistent is his excessive attention to detail in his work, and due to this, he doesn't have a very high tolerance for mistakes.

Backstory: Compass Meridian was born in the Bronclyn borough of Manehattan to a fairly well to-do, middle class family. Despite this seeming stability, Manehattan would not be his home for very long. During his foalhood, his family repeatedly moved to other parts of the country, with the longest period of time spent at any one location being only four years. This constant transience left him unable to make very close friends with others, as just when it seemed as if one would bloom, he would have to move again. As a means of coping, he took up drawing fake maps as a hobby, soon branching out to maps of real places. Eventually, he decided that he loved cartography and city planning enough to make it his future livelihood.

When he was twelve, his parents found stable work in the southeastern city of Applelanta, finally putting an end to the cycle of transience. Once he got to secondary school, he managed to make a few close friends and increase his sense of self-confidence. Secondary school went fairly well for him, going so far as to become the secretary on his school's Student Affairs Council. After graduating from secondary school, he went onto the Engineering and Technical Institute of Applelanta to study both urban planning and information technology, hoping to become a pioneer in digital mapping systems in the future.
