Cutie Mark: His cutie mark is a mine cart with an eighth note inside of it. It represents his musical talent as well as his skill in coal mining.

Personality: His appearance doesn't really match his personality. He's a big softy and loves his bunny Coal. He's also very kind and smart and he hates bragging. He normally acts around mares as he normally would with stallions. That is, unless he's attracted to one. Then he can become nervous and awkward. On the rare occasions that he thinks about his brother, it will hit him pretty hard and he has to overcome his feelings. Dust is also extremely stubborn. Whether it be his physical limits, or winning an argument, he won't listen to others about when to stop.

Backstory: Diamond Dust was born into a family of coal miners. He started on Clyde's rock farm, where most of his family starts their mining experience(Clyde is Pinkie's dad). After several years there, he moved down to the real coal mines. He has several siblings. He has three sisters, and he used to have four brothers, but one of them died in a mining accident. His name was Chisel, and he was, along with Dust himself, the only two earth ponies in his family. They weren't twins, but they were the closest among all the siblings. Since most of his family were unicorns, he was at a disadvantage not being able to levitate tools. Fortunately this made him extremely strong and made him look older than he is. When he was mining one day, at the age of about ten, he heard some squeaks from under a pile of coal. He pushed the coal away and underneath was a very young bunny. The bunny was covered in coal dust. Diamond Dust took him home and gave him a bath, and the bunny ended up being black anyway. Dust released the bunny back into the wild, but he kept coming back. Finally, Dust took him in and named him Coal, for the circumstances that they met on. In school, specifically music class, he learned that he loved the piano. He taught himself how to play, and after playing a literally flawless piece of music, he gained his cutie mark.
