Appearance: Ebony is a grey bat pony, with a lavender mane and tail. She keeps both short and spiky. She is also smaller than most ponies of her kind. (About half a head smaller.) She wears a set of throwing knives on each of her rear legs, (4 on each side) which are personalized with her cutie marks.
Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark is a crescent moon overlaid by a knife. She earned her cutie mark during her time in the night guard, where she excelled in throwing weapons. She had favored knives over the other options, and had earned her cutie mark after breaking the speed record for the course.
Personality: She is generally friendly, though this can change depending on the ponies she's around. She is deeply loyal to those that she calls friends, and it takes her a long time to trust new ponies to the point where she considers them true friends.
Backstory: She was dispatched to the town of Hoofington during her time in the royal guard. The town had reported an apparent changeling attack and called for assistance from the guard. When they arrived, they saw nothing but changeling bodies and the town apologized for their panicked request for the guard, claiming they had fended off the changelings on their own. The guard dismissed it as another false alarm and began their trek back to Canterlot.

As they were leaving the town, she noticed something off the side of the road, near the bushes. Making her way over, she found a changeling that was badly injured. It stared up at her and she began to turn around, intent on leaving the creature to succumb to it's wounds. She stopped when she heard it ask for help in Equestrian. Deciding to heed the call for help, she patched the changeling up enough to be safe to travel and brought it back to Canterlot with her. As they traveled, the changeling told her that her name was Sapphire Glow, and she had been a member of the changeling hive near Hoofington.

According to Sapphire, the hive she was from was only a fledgling hive with only twenty or so members. They had negotiated with the nearby town, and the two lived peacefully for several years. The townsponies had slaughtered her hive as part of some unforseen threat, after they had heard of changelings attacking a town near the badlands.

Once they reached Canterlot, Ebony took Sapphire to her apartment where they lived together for a couple of years. That all changed after Chrysalis' failed invasion. With ponies having a new found fear of changelings, Ebony attempted to sneak Sapphire out of the city.

She was caught helping Sapphire escape by some of the other guards and taken into custody as a 'changeling sympathizer'. She was discharged from the guard, and banned from returning to the castle. She now wanders Equestria, looking for Sapphire.
