Cutie Mark: A sun obscured by a moon. Despite his profession it actually has nothing to do with the night guard: the sun reprise TD focus, drive and passion, shrouded behind the clarity and peace of the moon.

Personality: 'Good is not nice.'<br /><br />Eclipse is a cynical stallion who believes strongly in taking an 'all or nothing' approach to problems. He has a terrible sense of humour and tends to avoid 'such trivial pursuits' which others call fun and games. He does laugh, just less often than those around him tend to.<br /><br />Eclipse lives for his job: for his duty to the princess of the night. While some see her as some mysterious figure of nightmares, and others as a conduit for their 'edgy' and 'dark' way, Eclipse sees her merely as his princess - nothing more and nothing less - and the one pony who deserves his devotion more than any other. He takes his work particularly seriously.<br /><br />He lives by a strong moral compass - albeit not one which strictly adheres to what others might class as 'right' and 'wrong'. While he does everything he can to avoid loss, sometimes sacrifices need to be made, and Eclipse isn't above making them. He is proud and far from selfless - viewing himself as a more important asset than others on many occasions and thusly taking these thoughts into account when deciding his actions.<br /><br />Despite this, he is ultimately in service of the Crown and bears a deep loyalty, particularly to princess Luna. Sacrifices and collateral damage are not something he enjoys, he is simply not above using such means to ensure his work is completed.

Backstory: After following in his fathers ways and being inducted into the Canterlot Guard, Eclipse found himself rising rapidly through the ranks: finally reaching his post as a royal guard of Princess Luna. Eclipse found this oddly fitting, given his name and mark and as such chose to hold this position permanently when asked to transfer. <br /><br />His telekinetically focused magic proved a particularly useful type when combined with his physical aptitude: while most advanced spells are beyond his skill he is capable of wielding the same spells most unicorns learn to lift objects with much greater strength and flexibility. Unfortunately, his other magical prowess are negligible.
