Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark is a white feather quill, scribbling something down, to show her love of reading and writing. The fact that it's a quill and not just a pen or pencil reflects her high regard for literature and typical formality of her writing, and is symbolic her more reserved side, whereas the scribble shows her tendency to get carried away and her more excitable side. She got it in primary school after winning a writing competition in class.
Personality: Feather is something of a mixed bag; she might seem quiet and reserved at first, not really taking part in the conversation - truth be told, she's probably not even listening and actually daydreaming - but once the topic switches to something she's interested about she can get rather excited and rant on for hours, switching between seemingly random topics almost at Pinkie Pie speed, barely letting anypony get a word in edgewise and refusing to shut up no matter how much anypony else begs or screams or pleads until she's finished.

Although certainly not shy, Feather doesn't necessarily have very good social skills, despite her best intentions; she can't read other ponies very well - she doesn't know when to shut up, can't always tell when somepony is joking and although she wants to get along with everypony, she tends to zone out of conversations at random moments and isn't exactly the best at consoling others - and she knows this, so she can come off as awkward, hesitant or distracted, but really she's just focused on not getting something "wrong".

Also, while pretty geekish and booksmart, Feather is in no way streetwise; rather she's impetuous, naive, impractical and rather incompetent. That doesn't mean she won't make an effort and pull through to help her companions, though.
Backstory: Although originally born in Trotland (that is to say, the Equestrian equivalent of Scotland) Feather Quill grew up in Cloudsdale like most Pegasi, and while she did well in academic subjects at school (but not so much in art, practical subjects like cooking and tech or gym) she was anxious to leave and hasn't made many lasting friendships due mostly to her poor social skills. Since she was a young filly Feather's dream has been to become an author, so, inspired by stories of her great-grandfather, an adventurer, she decided to leave Cloudsdale in the search for experience and adventure of her own to help inspire her writing.
