Cutie Mark: Feverfew’s cutie mark is a feverfew flower sitting in a vial of pink liquid, representing her job as an apothecary and her first potion. She got her cutie mark one summer day, when she had fallen ill. Her parents were worried and didn’t want her leaving the house while she was sick, and was confined to the interior of her home until it blew over. Her parents wouldn’t be able to get her to a doctor for a couple days, and she didn’t want to tough it out. She found the only book she currently had on the subject, a guide of herbs and their properties which she borrowed from the library. She searched through the book for herbs that could be combined to cure her symptoms; fever, lightheadedness, and an irritating cough. She searched through the book and found multiple herbs she believed could be combined to create medicine for her. She snuck out of the house into the back yard, where her mother tended a small garden. She searched for the herbs, and was only able to find one: feverfew, the herb she shared her name with. She wished to search for more but heard her parents nearby, and was afraid she would get caught. She quickly yanked the plant out of the ground, as well as a few others and rushed to her room. Once inside she recalled the techniques for brewing she read about but weeks ago. Through improvising the technique added with the herbs she mixed, she created a pink concoction that she thought would at least cure her fever. Miraculously, the potion she created did more than that and eliminated all of her symptoms by the time she woke up the next morning. When she went to breakfast the next morning she was confused as to why her parents were so surprised, only for her to find that a cutie mark adorned her flank.
Personality: Feverfew is quite eager to meet new ponies, although she has a hard time forming meaningful friendships with others. She is naturally curious and always searching for something new. Whenever someone needs help she is more than willing to give it, especially if it’s a friend. Despite her eagerness to meet others, she sometimes gets uncomfortable in prolonged conversation. She always has a book on hoof, and will use it to as an excuse to escape conversations she’d rather stay away from. She is very cautious when it comes to important decisions, sometimes to the point that she won’t even make one, instead she will continuously compare her options.
Backstory: Feverfew was born to two clerks in Canterlot. She had been raised there until age 6, but her parents had heard of new opportunities in Baltimare, and they were eager for a change in life. They decided that the smaller city was a better place to raise a filly, and they settled into the city without a hitch. She spent a large amount of time with her mother and father, who searched for new jobs, although the so called “opportunity” didn’t exist and they settled into the same job, but a different location. They had encouraged her to become educated so as to ensure her success; the quality of the schooling in the young city was lesser than that of other towns and cities. After school, she had to spend extra time at home studying, and she had little time to socialize with others. Around age 10 she demonstrated magical ability, something she had been behind on compared to most fillies her age. Her parents had decided to send her back to Canterlot, where she lived with her aunt and uncle. Her parents, with the assistance of her aunt and uncle, sent her to a private school for unicorns. She was able to socialize and make friends now that she no longer had to rigorously study under her parents guidance. When the school year was over she went back to her Baltimare for the summer, and spent most of it enjoying herself with friends and family, as her parents now felt the new school she attended was sufficient.
One day her class was assigned a project in which they had to research a topic of interest. While browsing the school’s library for a suitable topic she found a book on medicinal herbs. She decided to study this for her project, and quickly found herself engaged in the book. Soon after the project was done and over with she continued to study herbs and medicine in her free time. Feverfew spent less time with her friends and more time reading every book she could find on the subject. Even over the summer she spent hours at the Baltimare Library; she was truly devoted to this trade. After graduating she spent two more years studying herbs before she became an apothecary. She decided to move to the small town of Ponyville to open her business selling remedies and potions.
