Appearance: Dark orange fur and a fiery red mane and tail with a dim yellow coloring their inner portions. Her eyes are a deep red color that match the ruby on her lowest earring and the four bands around her legs.

Cutie Mark: A flaming meteor, which represents her natural talent with heat-based magic.

Personality: Brazen and arrogant, she will jump into conflict more often than not. Be it a war of words or of the body, she won't hesitate to defend herself or others who might need it. Outwardly, she is quick to anger and will never be afraid to tell, or in some cases show, you why you are wrong. Because of these factors, she works much better alone or with one or two others rather than in a large team or group. She also prefers it that way. However, if she is forced to work with a larger number of individuals, she will do her best to help or protect them to the best of her ability.<br /><br />Despite her burning anger, she has a soft spot and will show a side of herself she usually keeps hidden if she allows someone to get close enough to her. In this state, she becomes more calm and caring, willing to go out of her way to help them; something she would never think of doing otherwise.

Backstory: Born in a town nestled in the frozen, snowy mountains in the for northern reaches of Equestria, Essence quickly honed her natural mastery over the element of fire to help keep her and her family warm. Her childhood was as normal as one can get in such an environment. She was usually trapped inside with her three siblings during snow storms, thus somewhat hindering her skills in interacting with other ponies.<br /><br />As she grew older, she noticed strange flares in her magic that she couldn't seem to be able to control. After one particularly bad episode, her family's home went up in flames, destroying everything they were unable to take out of the small house with them upon their escape. As she watched the fire burn, the teenaged filly collapsed onto the snow, her horn melting the nearby snow as her magic flared to life again. Ignoring their lost possessions, Essence's parents carefully picked her up onto their backs to try and find anyone who could possibly help, or at least knew what was wrong with their child.<br /><br />Upon taking Essence to the local hospital, it was discovered that her magic powers were growing at a rate too quick for her to control. If they didn't find a way to hold back the magical energy inside her, she would eventually get torn apart by it. Luckily, such a way did exist in the form of four magic suppressing bands she has worn on her legs sense.
