Appearance: Granite looks, in general shape and build, like an average Earth Pony stallion. However, he is made entirely of a light grey stone. <br /><br />There is what appears to be a golden harness across his chest, with a purple gem set in the center. His eyes are large cut garnets, and when he is "awake" they appear to have flames within the gems.<br /><br />His mane and tail, while still made of stone, are darker than the rest of his body. They are also softer, more like malleable clay than solid rock.<br /><br />There are large open holes in his shoulders and along his flank. He seems to recall that they were initially so that his creator could augment his body, though he seems to have lost any extra parts he may have possessed at one time.

Personality: While bound to serve whoever may be his current "master", Granite still has a personality of his own. He tends to complain about most orders given him, even ones that are simple or ones he would actually enjoy carrying out. He may also be very snarky or sarcastic. <br /><br />When left to his own "free will", Granite enjoys watching animals. He doesn't like birds, but any other creature he enjoys to watch. He also likes to learn about history, in hopes that it will help the golem learn about his own strange past.<br /><br />If he were to somehow spark a memory of his past, his personality may be liable to change upon the revelation he has. This is a rare occurrence for the aging construct, however.

Backstory: Granite is old. He doesn't know how old - only that he has been around for a very, very long time. Most of this time he has spent "asleep" though, and as such the golem's memories have not withstood the test of time.<br /><br />Granite's cycles of "sleep" and "awake" are based on the purple crystal in his chest. The crystal is actually very long, and if his current master were to remove it, Granite would effectively shut down. He will remain this way until somepony else comes along to put the crystal back in, making themselves his new master.<br /><br />While unable to recall specific details, Granite does know the general story of how he came to be. He knows that at one point he used to be a living pony, but he doesn't remember who he was. He also knows that his very first master was the one who trapped his soul in the purple gem used to bind him to his stone body.
