Appearance: She has a purple coat with a curly green main and tail that curls. She has light blue eyes and freckles. She's a little taller than many ponies, not so much she stands out, but enough that she doesn't look many ponies in the eye if she were to stare straight.
Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark is a small plant sprouting from its seed. The sprouting seed represents new knowledge and watching ideas grow.
Personality: She's an odd pony to say the least. She's always late, and she's always cleaning yet her room is always a mess. She can often be seen rushing down the street with several plants and scrolls stuffed into her saddle bags to the point that some of them are falling out.

While she isn't that susceptible to suggestion, if somepony says something that sparks her interest, she tends to charge forward without really considering all options or possibilities.

She's very outgoing and perhaps a little flaky. As much as a scientist she is, a lot of her decisions are based off of a "feeling" she has, which definitely doesn't help her earn any respect from her peers.
Backstory: When she was a young filly, on a dare, she snuck into the royal gardens. She was amazed at all the different types of plants that grew there and she fell in love with the smell of flowers. She was caught by the ground's keeper, but instead of kicking her out, he explained what all the plants were and what they did. Before showing her the way out, he gave her a few seeds and told her, "There are enough ponies out there who just want useful or pretty plants. I want you to care for these like they are your foals."

After hearing that, Honey Seed became obsessed with learning all there is to know about plants and how to take care of them. She tried growing the seeds in some tea cups (which upset her mother to no end), but she ended up drowning them before she realized that tea cups don't offer enough drainage. Seeing how upset Honey Seed was about killing her plants, her mother helped her get all the books about farming, botany, gardening and such she could possibly find. Honey Seed snuck into the royal gardens a few more times to get tips on how to care for plants from the ground's keeper, but even after all of that, she still ended up killing the plants for all sorts of reasons. Half the time the plants died from treatment that they would normally have recovered from easily. Once she almost got the ground's keeper fired because she tried taking care of a very delicate and rare plant. That was the last time she was allowed in the royal gardens.

Despite her passion for plants, she couldn't figure out why she was so bad at taking care of them. She could follow books page for page, but she would get distracted for a week or so, and the plant would be dead. She tried cacti but she would forget if they needed water or not and she drowned most of them.

But the more she tried to keep the plants alive, and the different techniques she tried, the more interested she became in the techniques themselves. She then realized that it wasn't the plants she loved, it was learning about them and figuring them out. It was then she earned her cutie mark.

She threw herself even further into botany, but only the technical side of it. She still had the urge to try and raise a bush of roses or perhaps set up a potted fern in her office, but she'd either forget to water them or forget she already watered them and they would die. She hasn't come up with much techniques or theory about plants in all her time studying either. But she still is hoping that she could figure out something that no pony has ever noticed about plants, or maybe even discover a new plant herself.

She hopes to discover that something special that will get her name printed in the history books, even if it's barely a paragraph in an obscure botany book. She's tried creating new species of plants, but she never had plants survive long enough to go to seed. She's tried finding new ways to grow better crops, but again, none of her plants survive long enough to give any information.
