Personality: Grumpy, thoughtful and brooding. He is sarcastic and witty and a lot of times he will say things without thinking first. He is closed off and somewhat quiet, but he is not afraid to voice his opinions. Deep down he is a hopeless romantic and he loves nature and simplicity. Even if he doesn't show it, he loves those closest to him and will do whatever it takes to stand up for them and keep them safe. His defining characteristic is courage.

Backstory: He was born in Cloudsdale and went to flight school there. His best friend was Flash Thunder, another pegasus he always stuck up for. When he was eight his sister Summer Breeze was born and their mother died giving birth. Then their father died three years later of incurable sickness. Their aunt and uncle took them to live in Fillydelphia where they continued to grow up until Jay was 18 and Summer was 10 and they moved to Ponyville to live in a treehouse. When Jay was in Fillydelphia his best friend was Clay Miller, an earth pony. After Jay got to Ponyville he discovered that destiny had chosen him to be one of the six elements of nature and he had the power to control the air.
