• Jazz Board

    Quillwing

    • Age: 19

      Gender: Male

      Species: Earth Pony

Appearance: Hair:Mane and tail are both two shades of blue. Coat is lighter blue than the mane. In his mane, there are a few gold strands of hair mixed in here and there.
Body: Tall and distinctly unmuscular.
Eyes: gold
Complexion: no freckles or pimples, though he does have a small mole on the upper part of his back

Cutie Mark: A piano and a saxophone, which may be interpreted as being in a 'J' shape

Personality: Jazz Board is a generally quiet pony, preferring to be in the presence of others, but with little talking. Don't interpret this as shyness, however. Jazzy can be incredibly boisterous when he chooses to be, especially up on stage with his sax

Backstory: Jazz Board was born and raised in Canterlot, where his parents were both classical piano players. His older sister, Heartstrings, also played classical piano, though her special talent was the violin. And so it was understandable that the Board family would expect their youngest to become involved in classical music, too.

But it was not to be. Jazzy did well enough in his piano lessons, but he seemed to despise classical music. His parents were very concerned, but continued him on with his piano lessons, only furthering his hate for the classical genre.

On his sister's sixteenth birthday (he was eleven at the time), she wanted to go to a small restaurant that her friends had recommended. Jazz's parents only put half an ear into listening to the jazz ensemble that been playing at the restaurant that night, but Jazzy was enraptured.

The next morning, when he had piano lessons, he attempted the jazz he had heard the night before. The instructor was a bit iffed that he would not play what he was supposed to be playing, but Jazzy didn't care. He was fed up with the piano lessons; he just wanted to play jazz. After a week of this, the instructor quit, notifying the elder Boards "he just won't stop playing all that jazz!"

Knowing now that their son would not be going into the classical field as they had hoped, Mr. and Mrs. Board bought Jazz an alto saxophone for his next birthday. He took to it like a fish to water, resulting in the appearance of his cutie mark (which also featured a piano, since he could also play jazz on the piano really well, even if he preferred the sax better)
