Cutie Mark: A Kingfisher bird, perched on a small branch. A kingfisher is a small, brightly coloured bird which uses its long beak to hunt in water.

Personality: Kingfisher was until recently, a closed book. <br /><br />Outwardly, she is brash, persistent and unpredictable, a fierce fighter and a most loyal companion to her friend, Redwave. She gets what she wants - usually though brute force after very little negotiation.<br /><br />Inwardly, however, she is a very timid and downtrodden pony. While her loyalty spurs her to prove that she is who her friends think that she is, inside she is still the pony who fled from her parents home as it burned.<br /><br />She has maintained this facade for so long she has all but forgotten who she initially was. Her true personality hits her in waves when overwhelmed by emotion - though a stiff drink usually puts an end to them.<br /><br />Recently however, she had been forced into situations where she was forced to confront her past and go on without her captain: the experience helped her to mature. She is struggling, but slowly starting to accept herself for who she is: not just who she became. Her temper still flares, but she tried to control it. She still struggles with conversation and emotions - but she doesn't reject them completly.

Backstory: Kingfisher fled home a couple of years before meeting Redwave. Visiting her parents, she was surprised to hear a crashing sound come from the door. As she went to investigate, she heard shouting echo though the building. She fled, taking her brother to safety before running back to find her parents.<br /><br />The house was burning.<br /><br />Leaving her brother with her aunt and uncle, she fled to her fathers trading ship. Meeting Redwave, she instantly had a good feeling about his confidence and took a chance: placing all of her trust (and everything she owned) at his disposal on the condition that he never asked her about her past.<br /><br />Forcing herself to appear tough enough for life at sea, she trained in secret through the night to grow stronger, faster and more fierce - forging herself into the lie that she had told her only companion.<br /><br />The Incident regarding the Litany of Magic forced her to face her inner demons - befriending ponies from walks of life she would never have thought possible and discovering that there might be more to her than she had allowed herself to see.
