• Lenore

That One Techpriest You Used To Know
    • Age: 5

      Gender: Other

      Species: Non-Pony

Appearance: Golden, monochromatic eyes. Soft, alabaster skin. Strands of silver for a mane and tail. To an average pony, Lenore is an angel from the Greater Powers themsevles. On closer inspection, however, one will find this in not the case. Her skin, upon being pressed down, is revealed to be slightly translucent- and there is no swirling mystic spirit or even flesh and blood contained within. Instead, one can see the intricate designs of the clockwork mechanisms that spiral throughout her body. One may even see the tiny keyhole located under her hair that provides the body with the constant tension required to keep it moving. One would also, perhaps, see the numerous reinforced metallic slots throughout her body- the exit points of her numerous mechanisms for both offensive and defensive weapons- to which a careless pony who touches her without permission might find themselves on the business end of very quickly.

Cutie Mark: Lenore, despite her physical appearance, is not a pony and, thus, does not have a cutie mark.

Personality: Lenore is not a pony, and her attitude reveals this exceedingly quickly to others. Between the constant ticking that always accompanies her and her disturbing voice- smooth and melodic, but lacking emotion- it becomes clear that this angel was fashioned artificially. She strives very hard to pass as a pony, but her insistence on fitting in can very quickly pass from charming to unnerving. Despite all of this, she will persist. Besides, how else will she ever be accepted if she doesn't try?

However, despite her best intentions, there is one glaring point that she does not recognize but those around here most likely are. At heart, Lenore is but a sentient weapon. She is destructive and often is subconsciously aggressive towards others, especially in tense situations. She also places no value in anything at all- a pony's life is just as unimportant and not worth considering as a bug's life, or a dragon's life, or the Tree of Harmony's existence, or the balance of the world. She lives to fight- and fights quite brutally, at that.

Backstory: Once there was a pony named Spring Gear, a famous machinist and expert all sorts of clockwork and machines. Examples of his work included building and maintaining the Ponyville Clocktower, and runs a humble storefront in Manehattan that doubles as his workshop. He was one of the most valued non-upperclassmare or noble ponies- which quickly made him many enemies who were jealous of his standing, and his humility in said standing.

It was about the fourth assassination attempt before Spring Gear decided that, eventually, one of them was going to succeed. He needed a reliable companion that was built to protect him in battle and to complement his fighting style. But guards were expensive, and, well, there was no guarantee that they would complement him. If he was going to have a faceless bodyguard, he would build one himself. Besides, most faceless bodyguards wouldn't exactly be willing to let them hug you on cold winter nights anyways, and Spring Gear was getting lonely as he neared his fortieth birthday.

So the clockwork prodigy retreated into complete solitude, spending years alone as he constructed what would be the masterpiece of his collection. Or, at least, that's what he thought as he wound her up for the first time and it then proceeded to disembowel the poor stallion before fleeing the scene.

Lenore now wanders Equestria, attempting to fit in the best she can while subconsciously turning any pony who threatens her or anyone else into a figurative jigsaw puzzle. She moves often, scared of being contained and changed by her creator, and her fear of unwilling captivity is her biggest motivator. It does not help, however, that her presence tends to cause a... stir, to put it mildly.
