Cutie Mark: Description: Part of a piano keyboard made of lightning bolts<br />Represents: Lightning's ability to make friends as fast as lightning through music. He got his cutie mark at school during music class. The teacher asked if anypony had played the piano before and a couple of foals raised their hoof. They were asked if they could show the class. One of them played 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', and the other played 'Mary Was A Little Lamb'. When asked if anypony that hadn't played the piano before wanted to try, Lightning quickly raised his hoof. Instead of playing something simple like a nursery rhyme, Lightning improvised in a D blues scale and amazed everypony in the room. As the others applauded, he looked at his audience and smiled: he made them happy! Just then, his cutie mark appeared.

Personality: Lightning is quiet because he prefers to let the music do the talking. He is usually quite friendly and is almost always smiling.<br />

Backstory: He doesn't remember them, but his real parents loved him very much. When he was a foal he mostly had a normal life. His parents would care for him, nurture him and feed him like any young foal, except that every week they would go on 'adventures'. One day they went to the Everfree Forest. After setting up their hammocks they all went to sleep. When he woke up, his parents were missing. As he started to cry, two passing changelings heard him and decided to raise him so they could feed from his love. After searching the area for other ponies, they disguised as unicorns to look like they were his parents and raised him in Ponyville. Lightning was very shy. He loved his 'parents' but they didn't love him back. Similarly to the situation between Shining Armour and Chrysalis, he thought he got headaches regularly and that his parents were trying to heal him, but they are actually feeding from his love. Lightning was very depressed before he discovered music but he still loved everypony unconditionally. As Lightning grew up, he showed exceptional skill in playing Jazz and the changelings loved his music so much they wouldn't do anything to harm him. The music Lightning played conveyed such feeling and emotion that the changelings were mostly able to feed off the energy of the music itself rather than him. Little to nothing is known about Lightning's real parents because the only memory Lightning has of them is the name given to him and some vague visions of adventuring.<br /><br />Lightning has had many arguments with his foster parents because he does not agree with their evil ways and wants them to try and make friends of their own. Lightning went to school, but often slept in class due to lack of energy (which was drained from him by the changelings). He didn't have any friends because he was so shy. But after discovering his musical talent and getting his cutie mark, his confidence was boosted immensely and he was overall happier. His grades were also higher since his parents didn't have to drain so much energy from him directly.
