Marcato
By Marcato
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Species: Earth Pony
Appearance: Marcato's main body colour is light blue, and is just a little smaller than most ponies his age. He holds his head high instead of slouched down, not for the sake of looking arrogant, but moreso to appear confident and not afraid. He has blond hair that goes down behind his neck slightly before curling upwards a little. When his hair gets long he frequently has to brush or flick it away from his face. He generally tries to keep his eyes open a little larger to appear friendly, and always keeps a faint smile when walking around. His eyes are a vibrant blue.
When on tours or important jobs he combs his hair back for the sake of looking professional, and at his age he always tries to make a good impression on his clients that are often paying him good money to perform or compose for them.
Cutie Mark: A marcato symbol with a dot in the middle.
Personality: Marcato is a very emotional character. With a disorder that makes him more emotionally sensitive he is cautious as to what he shows, and has had to learn to hide or sober-down his reactions.
He's also very sensitive and caring. He often worries more about other people than himself, and for this reason he sometimes gets stressed over other people.
He also has very strong morals, as in his past he experienced a lot of bullying due to his emotional sensitivity and character. This caused him to despise all forms of bullying, and make great efforts against it.
He's fairly shy unless someone else acts friendly towards him first, not really sharing his opinion unless asked for it. However when he knows someone or some people really well, he is incredibly out going and often times even ridiculous. With a sense of humor he often hides, due to fear of being made fun of for it, he likes to mess around and make jokes often.
Backstory: Marcato led an interesting life up until the point he turned 15. (In fact it has proved still quite interesting after that point.) His full name is Velox Psallebat Marcato, which is Latin for Quick Played Marcato. This name is a common target for mockery and joking.

Marcato had always loved music, ever since he was just a filly at five. He had initially gotten into when he had had a bad experience with one of his friends. He decided to start fiddling around on the piano in his parents house, and realized it made him calm and take his attention away. Without even taking lessons he began playing, even writing his own music.

Marcato had always been homeschooled, at least until he hit Grade 4. It was at this time that he decided to go to school for the first time.

It wasn't exactly a decision with a satisfying result.

He obviously expected to get pushed around based on all the stereotypical new kid accounts, of course he was at a severe disadvantage.

With a disorder (that he and his family were not aware of) he was an easy target. This disorder made it so his emotions, nerves and all five senses were hyper-sensitive. This disorder was called Sensory Processing Disorder. (SPD) Because of this he reacted very loudly and aggressively when provoked, and because of this, he left school after grade 5 and returned to home schooling.

It was shortly after his leaving that they discovered the officially diagnosed disorder, and from that point out Marcato set out to fix this issue. He began learning ways to counteract his emotions and ways to keep calm. Over time he became better and better at this, and found himself much stronger in tough social conditions.

Around the time Marcato turned 11, he discovered his true talents in music. His great interest in violin led to the start of violin lessons, and his teacher was amazed at how well he was picking everything up and how fast he was speeding through all the curriculum. It was also around this time that Marcato began to truly compose music. He began writing a combination of electronic and instrumental, which eventually led to orchestral music over the years.

Now away from the topic of music, Marcato began going to school again when he was 13, and thanks to the effort he put in to fixing his problems, he handled his first year easily, and continued to do so as the other ponies matured around him, and became more understanding, caring, and started treating him, and many others with respect.

Having gained a job in composing and performing classical and orchestral music, Marcato took off when he was 16 and became known for his creativity. He frequently composed music for performers like Octavia, sometimes even performing with them. He found he got along very well with Octavia as they both had a deep love of classical music.

However that can't be said for him and Vinyl Scratch.

Marcato had never been a fan of electronic music, and when this new genre called "ponystep" came into existence, he found himself loathing the popularity the genre gained. He despised the noise and pointless screeching that followed ponystep, and came to a point where he began disliking most electronic music.

When he was once at a party, they were playing that very kind of music, and the DJ was none other than Vinyl Scratch herself. Marcato walked right up to her and they got into a heated discussion about music. Marcato and his dislike of ponystep and what he believed to be "a music genre belonging to people who can't make true music." Vinyl Scratch countered right back explaining the amount of timing and skill it takes to create the effects involved in ponystep.

Since that day the two of them never got along and kept their distance from each other, occasionally meeting up on accident and entering fiery debates. The two became eternal rivals, and were always competing with each other. Octavia often stood to the side and tried not to get too involved for the sake of her own reputation, but she occasionally would jump in to defend her fellow classical musician.

Marcato continues to make music and perform, often for lower prices than most ponies, claiming that his music is "amateur in comparison to the musicians of the older days."
