Appearance: Mercury's natural coat is a bright silver, painstakingly brushed. Her mane is dark, vermilion red, and she tends to fluff it up until it looks unkempt and curly. Her eyes are stone gray. Mercury wears thick, stainless steel horseshoes and her horn is sharpened to a point.<br /><br />When she's on a job, Mercury calls herself "Vermilion" and dyes her coat the same shade. She makes her mane dark purple, very near black. She stencils an image of a paintbrush trailing bright red paint over her actual cutie mark.

Cutie Mark: Mercury's natural cutie mark is a bright silver waterfall. She claims that it represents her ability to flow away from authorities, be patient and subtle, and seem innocent. She likes to find new meanings in the waterfall of mercury.

Personality: The simplest way to put it is to say that Mercury doesn't care. She's indifferent to the financial pain of others, but is surprisingly quick to get help for an injured pony. She absolutely hates having to maim or kill ponies, something pursuers have tried to exploit once or twice.<br /><br />She adopts a different personality when in disguise, but out of it, she acts cheerful and bubbly. She tends to ignore her shady other life in order to act natural.<br /><br />Once she is disguised, Mercury slips fully into her spy role. She is calm, confident, and jaded by years in the business. She's perfectly happy to knock out a pony or simply slip over their head, whichever works better. She keeps an open mindset and does not panic. Her business is serious, and she is intolerant of the bungling of others, a reason she's always worked alone. In disguise or out of it, Mercury is extremely wary of anything that might compromise her.

Backstory: Mercury grew up in a backwater town, rolling in the dirt and picking pockets relentlessly. She's never been scolded much for her actions, so she continued to steal with seemingly no repercussions. After getting her cutie mark, the idea of a disguise dawned upon her and Vermilion was born. Disguised, she broke into a store with the aid of her magic, emptied the cash register, and fled, never to be seen again.<br /><br />She now travels around Equestria, robbing banks and other such places where large amounts of bits gather. She's forged papers stating her occupation as a bank messenger, something she finds deliciously ironic.
