• Mint Rose

    Blood Moon

    • Age: 21

      Gender: Female

      Species: Unicorn

      Appearance:
Her mane without her helmet on. http://orig10.deviantart.net/6ba3/f/2017/194/c/a/mint_rose_headshot_by_sea_gnash-dbg88cj.png

      Cutie Mark:
http://orig14.deviantart.net/a630/f/2017/194/0/9/mint_rose_cutie_mark_by_sea_gnash-dbg88cm.png

She has a talent for gardening and all things floral. Rare for a non-earth pony, she has a green hoof that makes anything she plants grow big and strong. The black coloring of the rose indicates her disdain for her own talent.

      Personality:
Mint Rose is a kind, but not the sharpest tool in the shed. Though she does her best to help the citizens of Canterlot while making her daily guard rounds, she more often then not comes out of whatever she tries to do with plenty of scrapes due to her bumbling and clumsy nature. She is often plagued by embarrassed or saddened feelings due to her many missteps that most of the guard have taken to berating her about. Despite these feelings, however, she always strives to do her best no matter how many mistakes she makes, managing to pick herself back up again and again with personal pep talks. Though they don't always work too well, the stubborn side of her refuses to give up and she once again goes out with the hopes that the coming day will be one without any blunders.

Her mistakes in guarding come from her inability to accept the talent she has been saddled with truly is hers. As an also somewhat impatient mare while by herself, she doesn't enjoy the act of gardening that her cutie mark appears to represent due to how long it takes for efforts to show their success. She believes her talent must be something that is more active than sitting around waiting for plants to grow.

      Backstory:
Born and raised in Fillydelphia, Mint Rose seemed like any other unicorn filly. She would always prefer running and playing with her friends over reading or staying idle. One day while returning home from playing in the park, she stopped in front of a florist's shop as she bumped a large pot to make it tip over in front of her and break. She gave a quick apology from the owner of the shop who started to clean up the mess, offering to help get the rose bush back into a new pot. Once everything was back in place, she started to look around the shop which caught the attention of the old mare running the business.

When asked if she would like to help take care of some of the plants she appeared to be interested in, Mint quickly agreed to the new experience she would have. During the process of learning how to properly water, prune and position various flowering plants, a cutie mark appeared on the filly but it had gone unnoticed by her. Making an excuse to leave halfway through in her boredom, she returned home only to have her parents tell her about her new cutie mark. With a whine of denial, she quickly began to deny that gardening was what her talent truly was, a stance she would never waver on even into adulthood.

Once out of school and old enough to work, Mint quickly took to searching for a job, any job she could be good at performing. Failing at them all one by one and forced to look beyond her home city for work, she eventually found herself in Canterlot. In the new city atop a mountain, she continued her search. When nothing came from that, however, she turned to the last thing she could think of: guarding. Failing the exam the first two times, she didn't give up and pushed on in again despite the captain's insistence that she might not be cut out for the guard and managed to pass the test the third time around to start her training.
