  • Mystic Skies

    firephantom

    • Age: 15

      Gender: Female

      Species: Pegasus

Appearance: Mystic has a lavender coat and eyes. Her mane is curly and slightly similar in style to Luna's mane in season one. Her mane is grey and has gold tips.

Cutie Mark: Mystic Skies has not earned her cutie mark yet (explained in personality.) However, she is talented in organization, cooking, and sewing, which will most likely aid in her mark later on.

Personality: Mystic is generally pretty content and quiet, but tends to change moods faster than you can switch channels. She's imaginative, but slightly superstitious (which isn't helped by her fascination with mythology) Mystic is afraid of over-stressing herself, which is why she doesn't try to challenge herself, and likes to keep a low profile. However, she is creative, and loves to do DIY crafts. Mystic is very impatient and tends to give up on projects she does not have sufficient motivation for. Jealousy is most definitely her fatal flaw. Here's the reason for her cutie-mark-less self. While many other ponies worked diligently and earned their cutie marks (and rightfully so,) Mystic tried at first whole-heartedly at suggested tasks, then becoming down-hearted and trying less at each task, finally giving up. She now doesn't try to earn her cutie mark, but has come to grips with her blank flank and sticks to her talents.

Backstory: Mystic's family, the Skies, live in suburban Whinnyapolis. Mystic's father is Silver Justice, a pegasus private investigator, and her mother is Velvet Blossom, a unicorn editor (she even worked on a book by A.K. Yearling once before it was canceled.) Mystic has one younger sister, a unicorn named Coco Nutmeg. Mystic was born a few years after the Mane Six, so she was still a bit young when they had defeated Nightmare Moon and remembers the years without Princess Luna. (Let's say that the general cutie-mark age is eight for the purpose of the story.) She was around thirteen when Cadance and Shining Armor were married. All around Equestria, there were parades held in their honor (which went, as any parade goes, noisy and disorderly,) according to royal wedding tradition. One of the last stops for Cadance and Shining Armor to visit was Whinnyapolis. The Skies had found a nice spot, close to the action. Cadance and Shining Armor had been rode around by carriage or chariot for most of the tour, and this time they wanted to stretch their legs. However, as they were approaching where the Skies were, Cadance stumbled and the wedding ring she wore on her horn flew off. It rolled around and stopped in front of Coco. (Mind, the parade was still going on, and Shining Armor was distracted by crazed fans wanting autographs.) Coco, using her slightly unstable levitation magic, ran up to a panicked Cadance, skidded to a stop in front of her, and was beginning to gallop away when she quickly bowed, fearing that she would be punished if she didn't show proper respect to royalty. Coco then ran and hid behind her family, but a strong glow coming from her gave her away. Astonished, her family parted to reveal that Coco had gotten her cutie mark--the crystal heart, enclosed by a red heart. Cadance just barely had time to catch up with the crowd after looking, bewildered, at Coco's flank. Now, the Skies were understandably confused by this event. No filly or colt they'd known before had ever gotten their cutie mark from something as trivial as picking up something that was dropped. So they asked around. Everypony they asked had no answer. They even requested an audience with the princesses, but after realizing that it would take months to get a meeting, they dropped it. A while later, they were recommended to a zebra named Zecora, that lived in the Everfree Forest and had a small business of spells, potions, and yoga going. They were told that Zecora had been known to see into the future from time to time and might be able to help them. So the Skies family made the trip to Ponyville and visited Zecora. Zecora indeed could see into the future, and told the Skies that Coco would grow up to be Princess Cadance's lady-in-waiting. Mystic and Coco were so delighted by this that unfortunately they forgot to ask what Mystic's future had in store for her. However, on their way out, Zecora gave Mystic some advice: "do not give up, young one, for your life's path has only begun." Although Zecora has mostly faded from her memory, Mystic still remembers these words. In a few years, Coco will start her training to become Cadance's lady-in-waiting. Mystic has worked many different jobs, (at one point she worked at Rarity's Manehattan Boutique, but resigned because living there was too expensive) but now she currently works as a delivery girl at Sugarcube Corner.
