Appearance: Tall colt (approximate standing height of 6 feet) with light brown fur and a long, dark brown mane and medium length, bushy tail of same length. Hooves have a dark beige patch around the base. His eyes are a deep blue with thick, sharp eyebrows above them.

Personality: Generally polite, Nicolas has an initial hurdle to overcome when first meeting new ponies in that he is generally shy to approach others and usually keeps to himself. When confronting new ponies for the first time he may come off as distant, uncaring and blunt, but ponies grow on him quickly.<br /><br /> He loves writing and will enthuse about it with anypony he can, but his writing hobby tends to keep him busy and alone, so his social skills aren't the best, as he tends to word things far too eloquently than necessary and is terrible with jokes. He can be angered easily if his hobby or any friends are insulted, but otherwise is hard to get a rise out of along the lines of rage.

Backstory: As a young colt, Nicolas spent more of his time studying language than he did making friends. Due to this, he received his cutie mark significantly earlier than most ponies, but was mocked for the ridiculousness of his 'nerdy' talent. Most ponies didn't talk to Nicolas as he was growing up due to his incessant habit of correcting their grammar, and what few friends he did have he left behind after leaving his home when he finished his schooling. Now he travels across the land, journeying to find somepony who likes his writing whom might publish for him... and perhaps he'll make some new friends as well.<br /><br />----------------------------------------------<br /><br />Shifted Remake Backstory<br /><br />Nicolas spent the majority of his time talking with friends by way of his computer for the last several years of his life, not doing much along the lines of progressing his life forward.<br /><br />Though he had a meager job, he still lived at home with his parents. His best of friends were generally those he couldn't see, while his friends who could visit him seemed to all moved on with their lives as he sat stagnant in his own. His obsession with the computer did help him develop great friendships, one being especially strong with his sister, Angela, with but left him with little social interaction in person.<br /><br />As such, despite his general charisma when talking with his friends on the internet, he had lost touch with those in reality, becoming aloof and unable to communicate as well as he'd like to with them. In an effort to solve this issue, he had planned to visit his local friends more and try to catch his life up to where it was supposed to be.<br /><br />On his way to a friend's house, however, he noticed something odd off to the side of the road. The ditch seemed to be... glowing for some odd reason. He went to investigate it and the next thing he knew... wasn't too much, really. With a hazy memory and no recollection of his true name, the only clues to who he was were on his flank: A scroll reading "Nicolas" along with a quill and inkwell.
