Onaka
By Painted Star
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Species: Non-Pony
Appearance: Onaka is a racoon dog, but she lives her life looking like an earth pony.
Her racoon dog form is nothing special, looks just like any other of her kind.
In pony form, her body type is the same as most mares'/fillies' of her age. Her coat is pastel pink, with darker but lot less saturated stain-like markings around her eyes. These are there, because she is not a master of disguise, the markings are left over from her racoon dog form. Her eyes are dark brown, almost black. Her mane is long and wavy, combed to the right side, usually covering one eye. It is light brown with two thin white stripes in it. Her tale is similar to her mane, the only difference is that, the tail is cut short, and has only one white stripe.
Cutie Mark: Since Onaka's species does not have a cutie mark, she doesn't have one either. But she can make one appear on her flank in pony form, to make her disguise more accurate. Unfortunately, she is not the best at transforming, nor is her memory too good, so she is unable to maintain the same cutie mark after transforming back into a racoon dog then into a pony again.
What can be said about her cutie mark choices in general is that they have her pink/brown/white colour scheme and are related to Onaka's favourite thing: food.
Personality: While Onaka is outgoing and friendly when she is with fellow shape-shifters, she is extremely shy and anti-social when surrounded by ponies. She rarely opens up to said species: if she does, it means she put all her trust into this pony, and would even share her greatest secret, her true form with said pony. She barely talks to anypony, unless she is hungry and this is the only way to get food, or if she is confronted by somepony. The former occurs quite often. Onaka, as her name suggests (Tummy), loves her stomach, and spends most of her free time eating. She also enjoys taking walks in the forest and playing around with other shape-shifters of her age. If you get to know her, she turns out to have a rather loud personality and playful side as well. She often adds honorifics to names of her acquaintances, which can get REALLY annoying.
Backstory: She was born along with her four brothers and two sisters. She was raised in a good place, there was more than enough food in the surrounding area. Her father was a shape-shifting master, and often held lessons for other racoon dogs living nearby. Onaka, of course, could attend the lessons for free. She never was talented, and was a little lazy, so she was at the bottom of her class. But she enjoyed what she was doing, so she didn't care. This carefree life continued until one very cold winter when Onaka was 13. That year some pony settlers moved to the area. At first, the racoon dogs did not care, but soon enough they learned the reason for the ponies to move to this hidden little place. They were there to hunt down the racoon dog population in the area, and sell their fur for good money. When one of Onaka's brothers was killed, her parents decided to leave for a more peaceful surrounding. They mourned their lost family member and the set off towards a brighter future. When they already thought they were out of the danger zone, they were attacked by a hunter. Onaka did not know of any of her brothers, sisters or parents getting injured, but she got separated from them. At first she felt lost and had no will to live. She was tired, hungry and lonely. She somehow got away from the hunters, and found herself far from her home, and far from everyone she once knew.
One night, when she was about to go to sleep near a tiny pony town, a young pegasus stallion found her. Terrified, she froze to the place where she was, not knowing what to do. She was about finally running away, when the stallion turned back into his original form: a fox. He told Onaka that he, and some of his fox friends lived in the village disguised as ponies, and advised her to do the same. He was working as a merchant, and turned out to be quite successful. He took Onaka in, and tried teaching her the tricks of salesmanship. But Onaka feared ponies, and feared that somepony would realize that she was not one of them. She avoided all attention, which, obviously, was not too useful in the job. She ended up living with the fox and working as a maid for him. She cooked dinner and cleaned his house. The fox gave her plenty of food and taught her the ways of ponies in return, so that she could someday live on her own among them. Years passed, and when Onaka turned 15, she decided to set out to search for her family. Her homesickness was not as bad anymore as before, but she did want to see her family once again. She did not want to return to her childhood home, fearing the hunters would still be there.
By now, she's been traveling all over the country, doing small jobs for a living and searching for her family, with still no success.
