• Prince Abyssal

    SilverThunder
    • Age: A few years younger than 2 regal sisters.

      Gender: Male

      Species: Alicorn

Appearance: Prince Abyssal is a regal appearing, and rather tall Alicorn. His coat is a mostly darker blue, similar to the deep ocean, with a lighter more sky blue on his underside. His regal mane and tail appears as crystal clear light blue flowing water. The Great Prince stands with an air of superiority and great confidence, but always wears a small smile. Perhaps the most striking feature, is his eyes of deep blue, which seem as endless pools of ocean that hypnotize even the most defiant of mares.

His regal attire when addressing his subjects of the oceans, often begins with a solid polished light blue chest plate, which could often be mistaken for a shade of silver, with pure golden edging and embroidery. Similarly colored and worked plate greaves adorn all four legs. Hanging off one side of his body, he often partially wears a light blue almost grey cloak, obviously using it as an accessory rather than an actual cloak. Finally, he always wears his sharp jagged golden crown with perfectly clean blue gems worked within.
Cutie Mark: His Lordship’s royal insignia is a simple image of a blue watery swirl, denoting his mastery of the waters and oceans of the world, and his birthright to his aquatic kingdoms and the many islands there within.

Personality: The Great Prince Abyssal, enjoys the finer things of the world. By no means is he a slave to his vices, but he does enjoy indulging in the various experiences and entertainments around, and he has no shame in admitting this. After all, he is the Prince of the Largest Kingdom in the world, and virtually immortal. He does what he wants, when he wants, with little regard for others.

Prince Abyssal does not care for the feelings or wellbeing of others, more specifically, mortal creatures. To him, they are something that will pass in a comparatively short period of time, so why bother with making them happy? Mortals are week and frail things, which barely deserve a passing glance. That isn’t to say he doesn’t have his favorite pets of course, but he had learned long ago not put too much stock in mortal creatures.

His lordship can be quite emotional at times, and quick to judge, anger, or even please. His lack of control over his emotions has caused a great deal of troubles, as he deliberately and openly unleashes his wrath when displeased. It ranges from simple lashing out, to unleashing hurricanes and tsunamis.

Likes:
-Indulging in his immediate desires, whether it be ‘entertainment’ or specific tastes he wants sated, he derives no grater pleasure than feeling satisfied. However, despite his many servants and mistresses, he doesn’t partake in one particular vice, for fear of birthing a son or daughter.

-One method of appeasing the Great Prince, is by providing him with riches and artifacts. While his kingdom is perhaps the most successful and richest of kingdoms in the world, he still enjoys being provided with more ancient trinkets from older times, and mountains of gold, for no other reason than showing it off.

-Compliments and showering Abyssal with praise, is another way of garnering his favor. He knows he is superior and great, but he likes it even more when others acknowledge it, so long as it doesn’t sound fake or forced…

Dislikes:
-More than anything, he despises pretenders. ‘King’ Sombra is the most significant of examples, while ‘Prince’ Blueblood is a minor, yet still irritating one. Nobles are acceptable, and necessary, but those who claim royalty and aren’t Alicorn, deserve a stern reminder of who is in charge.

-Others that openly defy him are perhaps his second greatest dislike. The prince has been around far longer than most, and therefore, knows a great deal more than mortals. To have them question and defy him, encourages him to think they either don’t trust his judgment, or think him a fool.

-He also hates it when others do not pay proper respects, or do not follow appropriate customs and curtsies. It would be a bad day for anyone who does not bow and speaks out of term in his presence.

-Lastly, he has a certain distaste for Alicorns not naturally born, and doesn’t hold the ones who don’t hold a position of power with much of a high regard.
Backstory: The great prince, was not always the decadent dictator he is today. Prince Abyssal, is only a few years younger than his fellow Alicorn Kin. His past prior to his coronation at his young age, is something absolutely never spoken about by his lordship. He is certainly not ashamed of his simple birth and upbringing, but he is certain that such information could be used against him in some way. He is of course natural born, but discussing anything about himself is something he finds extremely difficult to do.

During the initial few years of his reign as Prince of the Open Seas, the Great Prince was considered just and fair. He was a good and kind stallion, who wanted nothing more than to make the world a better place for all to exist in. He was naïve then. He was still young, and hadn’t exactly grasped the magnitude of his power and position, and what being an Alicorn actually meant.

The prince had had a love since he was a young colt, not a filly thrown at him by her parents because of his Alicorn physiology, but one he had grown to love and think of as more than just a good friend or another mare trying to take advantage of his royalty. Shortly after his coronation, he chose the Unicorn, Quill Inkblot, or rather asked for her, for marriage sake. Shortly thereafter, he bore a Pegasus sun. Less than a hundred years later, he began his downward spiral into relative madness.

It had always been a thought in the back of his mind, the fact that he would outlive his loved ones, but it never came to the forefront until his love finally passed away. Abyssal was devastated at her loss, he had considered her the only one that kept him grounded to the world of mortals, and he slowly began to forget why he was a prince in the first place. One thing that still kept him caring for those he served as a ruler, was his son Icarus.

When his son passed away, it was the final straw, and his decent into what he is today had begun. Prince Abyssal began to see mortals as insignificant, for fear of falling for them once more. His fear had forced him to become uncaring and cynical, allowing him to adopt a new approach on life altogether. Now, everything is all about him and pleasing himself.

The Great Prince Abyssal now lives comfortably in one of his many palaces jutting out of the oceans of the world, made of polished marble and adorned with lavish decorations. Nothing is drab in those halls. From one of his many palaces, he controls the ebb and flow of the oceans and rivers, linking all the waters of the world with the many underwater currents which unite the oceans under a single banner, Cetaceana.
