Appearance: Ratchet wears a grey flat-cap and a grey engineer jumpsuit stained with oil and grease. He has grey eyeglasses that he wears to give himself an intelligent air even thought he doesn't need them to see.

Personality: He doesn't talk much and prefers the company of combustion engines and oil over other ponies.

Backstory: Ratchet was born on a farm where his parents put him to work in a windmill. When he turned 15 he ran away and got a job as an apprentice of an old engineer who drove a locomotive making deliveries around Equestria. Soon his mentor fell ill and lost his job on the train and Ratchet went with him. After he died Ratchet went from job to job until he met a pony named Kyros who gave him a home on his hydrogen ship as long as he kept the engines in top shape.
