Personality: Ruby is a cool, logic-minded pony with deep passion for her talent. She takes herself and it seriously, maybe even too seriously at times. However, she does have a friendly, laughing side; it just takes a special pony to bring it out of her. She likes to look good, thinking it makes her seem more professional. The gold parts of her mane were dyed with gold minerals, since she lived in Canterlot and her family is one of those 'old money' types, but her tastes are not that expensive; she can be happy with just some hay and water to eat, if that's what's available.

Backstory: The Sharp Shoe family has been a mainstay in Canterlot since the Apple family came by and made Ponyville. The chefs of the royal court needed new cutlery, and sending away for it just wasn't feasible. So the Sharp Shoe family (a large family of unicorn, pegasi, and earth ponies) stopped making pots and pans, and turned their focus to knives and other cutlery. Business boomed, and that has been their main business since. Their motto is "Knives so sharp you can cut a horseshoe."<br /><br />And they can prove it.<br /><br />The family always enjoyed the business, but then Ruby came along, with her red, white, and purple mane, and once she was old enough, she shook things up. Her knives were just as sharp and deadly, but were longer, almost swords. Her shorter ones, while just as sharp, were more ornamental than functional.<br /><br />She loved the fact she was breaking out of the mold, and her knives soon became hot commodities for the Canterlot elite. However, she ached for more. Ached for inspiration. On her 22nd birthday, she left Canterlot and began to journey, to seek the ultimate inspiration. Her Elysium.
