Personality: Growing up slacking on a farm, Scribe is a carefree Unicorn - sometimes even to the point of carelessness. Despite this however, he has somehow proven himself to be a competent leader.<br /><br />While he rarely stops to think through the consequences of his actions, dumb luck seems to favor him: he often finds himself out of his depth but somehow pulls through.<br /><br />Scribe is highly protective. Combined with his complete disregard of common sense when threatened he tends to something between bravery and stupidity when his friends are endangered.<br /><br />Unbeknown to him, his magical talent lies in protection: while unable to conventionally cast spells there have been a few incidents where the buildup of magical energy, combined with emotional surges, have triggered his raw magical energy. The result of this is a debilitating burst of light and sound which dispels other magic around him. While useful, Scribe has only ever managed this twice before and is unable to replicate the effect.

Backstory: Born to two Earth pony parents in a small farming community outside Trottingham, Scribe Shield never had the skill nor the motivation to learn any form of magic: his friends, family and everypony around were Earth ponies and he had no desire to be anything different. On the rare occasion he did try to study, he was unable to cast even basic level spells with any real success.<br /><br />After discovering the armor of his ancestor Eclipse Scribe under a trapdoor in one of the barns his frustration over his heritage turned to curiosity. He left town, wandering from place to place seeking something that would help him discover who he was, eventually finding himself in Ponyville. After meeting with Twilight Sparkle, he was smitten and studied under her for a few short days before having to depart. While still far from adept at spellcraft, he did manage to learn enough basic magic to continue teaching himself on the road, albeit very slowly.<br /><br />On the road, he stumbled into danger in the mountains outside of the Crystal Kingdom. Meeting the Earth pony Cinderblock and the Pegasus Wind Symphony. Over the course of their adventures he grew to become a suprisingly adept and honest leader - while still headstrong and seemingly unable to see even the short term consequences of his actions, Scribe has become a highly protective guardian who willingly (or, sometimes unknowingly) throws himself into danger to protect the ones he cares about.
