• Serene Sanguine

    Glike

    • Age: 22

      Gender: Female

      Species: Unicorn

Cutie Mark: Serene's Cutie Mark is an orange box with a blue question mark emblem. There is a slit on the top of the box which a pink mist emits from.

The Cutie Mark represents two things specifically. The mist represents her special magical ability, which is she can conjure up a pink mist that has basic calming and healing properties. The mist can both calm another pony if they're stressed/anxious/hyperactive/etc., and can also help alleviate minor pains such as headaches or stomach pains.

The box represents her infinite curiosity in other ponies, specifically those of a non-Unicorn race. When Serene wishes to learn about another pony, she will use her magic spell to calm them down to a state where there is no panic and they can collect their thoughts clearly.

Personality: Serene Sanguine is an excitable Unicorn. When she's not questioning others or offering her thoughts on a given situation, she's carefully listening to other ponies. She loves analyzing the behavior and mannerisms of other ponies, and she especially enjoys guessing what a pony will do or say before they eventually do so.. even if she can be hilariously wrong at times.

To other ponies, Serene may seem intrusive, persistent, or even downright rude. This is not her intention, however, and sometimes she can be extremely oblivious to how she's coming off to others. Her genuine interest prevails over all other thought processes. And if you're a species that is not a Unicorn, her interest is piqued tenfold. Are you a non-pony species? Good luck getting rid of her.

If you point out Serene's behavior to her in a clear and concise manner, however, nine times out of ten she is able to calm herself. If you're harsh, though, she can become easily saddened and unresponsive, requiring an extra push to get herself together again.

All-in-all, Serene Sanguine is a very astute pony who excels at making friends, once they can get used to her that is. She's extremely kind, generous with her time, enthusiastic, and protective her pals. If you befriend Serene, you have made a definite friend for life.

Backstory: Serene Sanguine was born to a Pegasus mother, Sylph Silver, and an Earth Pony father, Brass Brawn. Both Sylph and Brass had a single Unicorn parent, which resulted in their kid being born a Unicorn.

Growing up, Serene was always fascinated by her heritage. The concept of inheritance of traits was always something she had difficulty understanding, but it fascinated her nonetheless. She could have been born a Pegasus like her mother, or an Earth Pony like her father.. but she was born a Unicorn.

She always wondered what it was like to be a Pegasus, with their ability of flight, or an Earth Pony with their great strength. While she would never be able to experience being either firsthand, she could always learn from family and friends.

I should mention Serene was born in Canterlot, a city with a predominant Unicorn population. However, of her group of 4 friends, only one other pony was a Unicorn. Whenever she could, she would always approach a different pony race and bombard them with questions:

"What's it feel like to have wings?"
"Do you have to be careful when you carry something?"

Serene almost never focused on her magic training, and when she did she tried to use magic to fly or increase her strength.. this never worked out quite like she wanted.

She was able to master basic teleportation, illumination spells, and moderate levitation (she could levitate a stack of hay bales no problem), but she never learned anything beyond that.

In her fourth grade class she had kept a notebook with her documenting everything she learned about other pony races. On one particular page she had a list of the pros and cons of being a member of each race. As soon as recess started she was the first one out of the room, leaving her journal open to that page. A group of ponies began reading it, and soon others had as well.

The room erupted into a complete shouting match between the ponies, each declaring their race was superior to the others and using the journal to back up their claims. Serene heard the argument and returned to the room to retrieve her journal. Her classmates backed her into a wall, shouting at her. They asked her to decide what the best pony race was. Backed into a corner, Serene let a pink mist out of her horn which seemed to calm down the class.

They all apologized to each other and realized how ridiculous they were being, then trotted off to recess leaving Serene Sanguine behind. Serene felt a tingling sensation and looked back, and there it was.. on her rump was her very own Cutie Mark. From then on, she realized her purpose.

After graduating from high school, Serene had no idea what she wanted to do with her interest, which hadn't faded a bit. In fact, it had spread to creatures other than ponies as well: rabbits, dragons, Diamond Dogs, hydras, you name it!

But she didn't know how she could apply it to a professional career. Sure, college was a grounds to learn what it is you want to do, but she wanted to reserve those four very special years dedicated to her interest wholly. She spent a year interacting with ponies of different occupations and backgrounds, hoping to find her niche.

After her gap year, she attended the Connecticolt University of Philosophy and Sciences, a very prestigious school in Connecticolt. There, she had decided she wanted to double major in comparative anatomy and criminal justice. The interest in criminal justice had formed shortly into her second year after having realized she really enjoyed her intro to criminal justice class from her second semester.

In present time, Serene Sanguine is just beginning her third year of college. Her career goal is to become an investigative criminologist, applying her understanding of equine biology and psyche in both tracking down criminals, understanding them, and preventing further crime.

Currently, Serene Sanguine sees a bright future ahead of her.
