Appearance: Shadowknight has a coat and mane as black as night. His eyes are tealish-blue. Hes slightly taller than other stallions his age. He is also a bit slender. (He sometimes wears a cloak to hide himself and not scare other ponies because he has been mistaken to be Nightmare Moon due to his appearance) He also wears a black vest with pockets for misc items.<br /><br /><br />

Cutie Mark: A silver shield with a rearing black Alicorn silhoutte on it. It symbolizes his protective instinct. Basically his talent is defending the weak, innocent, and all that is good, despite his dark appearance.

He doesn't socialize well or at all really since the only pony he is able to socialize with is his brother. He is somewhat of a loner, but still wants to make friends, if not always being around them. He is friendly, but rarely speaks. He wants to learn how to use his magic, but is afraid of it. He is also afraid that his appearance might scare ponies. He wants to find his lot in life, how he fits into the great scheme of things. He also wants to prove he is good and tries to do good deeds, he has been mistaken as a monster and he wants to prove that he isn't one. He has a certain wanderlust about him and a bit of a fighter's spirit.<br />

Backstory: Background<br /><br />Family: <br /><br />-Lilyleaf (Mother) <br />-Brightmane (Father) <br />-Sunmane (Brother)<br /><br />History: First, we should go over Shadowknight's parentage. His mother, Lilyleaf, and his father, Brightmane, were two pegasi who lived in Cloudsdale. They were both free spirits who loved true nature. They didn't like all the control the other ponies had over the environment; they didn't hate it, but it wasn't 'natural' to them. That's why they loved the Everfree Forest; it was the true freedom they wanted. So one day, they eloped together into the Everfree.<br /><br /> Together they had made a nice tree home and they grew berries and all other sorts of wild fruit. They then had their first son, no it wasn't Shadowknight. It was Sunmane, Shadowknight's one year older brother. It wasn't long before Lily was carrying another child, however, something different happened with this one.<br /><br /> A group of monsters, imbued with dark and shadowy magic had attacked the small family. Lilyleaf and Brightmane had to defend themselves as well as little Sunmane. Lily was still carrying Shadowknight though. In the fight, Lily was bitten by one of the dark creatures and dark magic infused poison had seeped into her veins. The creatures were driven away, but Lily felt sick. After a few days she felt better, but she still felt the touch of the dark magic in her. When Shadowknight came into the world, she knew why.<br /><br />The dark magic had infused with Shadow while Lily was carrying him. He had unknowingly saved his mother's life, for the poison would have normally killed her.<br /><br />He came out as an alicorn as black as night and what was even stranger, he was born with his cutie mark. The cutie mark was placed there as he protected his mother from the dark magic poison. Lily and Bright were cautious at first, but they still loved their newborn son. As years went by, they saw the changes in Shadowknight. His dislike of Sunlight, his shadow clouds from his wings, and his mysterious shadow magic.<br /><br />Though they loved their son, the only one of the family who really seemed very close to him was his brother, Sunmane. Sunmane was the brighter half of Shadow. Their parents often joked saying they were the two heads of the same bit. Even though Shadowknight liked to be alone he still enjoyed the company of his brother, who happened to be more naive despite being older. Sunmane often told Shadowknight that everything had a place in the world and that he just needed to find his place. He said this to comfort his brother whenever he felt down and this usually did the trick.<br /><br />During the years, more dark creatures started attacking and Shadowknight became a very great and skilled fighter. Sunmane became somewhat of a healing herbalist, tending to his brother's wounds and just about anything in and around their home.<br /><br />Finally, when the two had grown up, Brightmane and lilyleaf regained some of their free spirit attitude after having most of the weight of responsibility of taking care of the two little ones for so long. They had announced they were going to travel the world and be back in a few years. They left everything to the two brother to do with whatever they'd like.<br /><br />Unfortunately, it was only a few weeks later that a large group of dark creatures attacked. They had recessed in the past year and this was the reason why. The brothers were driven from their home with mild injuries. They couldn't go back so they decided to go to a place called Ponyville.<br /><br />It was a place that their mother had told them about when they were little, referring to it as a nice place where many ponies lived in many buildings and houses. <br /><br />After an incident of scaring a group of ponies traveling through the everfree forest, Sunmane fashioned a cloak for Shadowknight to hide and diguise home. Together, they finally made it out of the everfree forest and there.... was ponyville.<br />
