Personality: Due to his unusually quick reflexes, Shutter can be pretty jumpy. His reactions to jumpscares or surprises are pretty extreme, and he doesn't really like them as a result.? <br />Delays are pretty annoying for him, as he likes getting things done as quickly and as soon as possible. He rarely procrastinates, and often does projects days, if not weeks in advance. Shutter is open to making new friends, as he believes that life would be pretty bland and colorless without them. He is quite intelligent, especially in the field of photography, and loves a good conversation.

Backstory: What's photography for you? A hobby? An art?<br /><br />Well, for a buck named Shutter Speed, it's his life.<br /><br />? Born in Manehattan, Shutter grew up around the bland colors of the city. Grey, more grey... and even more grey. Simply put, it was boring. So imagine his surprise as his family headed off to Canterlot a few days before the Summer Sun Celebration, and he saw the beautiful countryside for the first time. He was captivated, overwhelmed by the wide array of colors that dominated his vision no matter which way he turned his head. And, wanting to remember the sight forever, he quickly found a way to do so. Through the art that would soon become his passion: photography.<br /><br />? ? As soon as he had bought his first camera in Canterlot, Shutter quickly started using it. He ran all over the city, snapping pictures of anything, and everything. Of course, they were blurry at first, but over the course of his few days in Canterlot, his photos gradually became better and better. It felt so natural for him, taking photos, that it was like he'd been doing it his whole life! So, soon after the purchase of his first camera, Shutter was set to experience his first Summer Sun Celebration. The event where he would take the picture that would change his life.<br /><br />? ? Like all other attendees, Shutter was excited. How can you not be, when you get to witness Princess Celestia herself raise the sun? And Shutter, even more so, as he now had a camera of his own to record and keep the event's colors forever. So as the Princess stepped up to the dais, and launched herself into the air, Shutter's impatient hoof and unnaturally quick reflexes combined to push down on the button, and took the amazing picture that would change his life. A picture of the Princess at the exact moment the sun's shining rays cascaded over her, silhouetting her in a cloak of light.<br /><br />? ? In fact, the picture was so amazing, that Shutter found himself dragged by his parents on an unexpected stop for their visit to Canterlot. The Canterlot University of Arts. He was dragged to the enrollment center, much to his surprise. Was he... was he going to study here? But it was so far away from Manehattan! He couldn't possibly afford to travel back and forth between two of Equestria's largest cities daily! Well, surprise surprise! For the only reason they "visited" Canterlot...? <br /><br />... Was because they were moving there.? <br /><br />? ? Shutter would never have to wake up to the bland colors of the city ever again, and that fact alone was enough to make him smile wider than he'd ever smiled before. The surprises weren't over, however, because Shutter's photo and his past grades at school were high enough to qualify for entry to a Photography course at the prestigious university, and enter he did. He was overjoyed. What could be better? He'd get to leave the boring city, and get into a great university to study his newly found and loved hobby too!<br /><br />? ? Well, life showed him exactly how things could get better, by making his cutie mark appear with a shine and a sparkle on his flank. And right there, at that moment, young Shutter burst into tears.<br /><br />Things were finally going his way.<br /><br />? ? So, ever since that fateful day at the enrollment center, Shutter has finished studying ? at the Canterlot University of Arts. Instead, he works there, having recently been hired as one of the university's youngest professors, teaching classes of all levels in the various ways and styles of photography. He wanted to help others learn more about the art of photography, and what better way to do it than become a professor for the subject at the university that helped him fulfill his dreams?? <br /><br />? ? Shutter never lost his love for photography, and he sure isn't going to start now. He'll never lose his little spark of madness, and in fact, he's determined to share it with others. You might find Shutter passed out from work, or relaxing in his office, but he's always willing to talk anytime, anywhere. So if you ever pass by the Canterlot University of Arts, pop in and say hi!
