Cutie Mark: A grey coffee mug filled with a brown liquid and a white-ish cresent moon clearly presented on the front of said mug. This is representing the fact that despite the fact that he's a Bat Pony, he struggles to live like a bat pony should - sleeping during the day and awake during the night. It also represents the fact that he is very fond of coffee/hot chocolate and can always manage to provide the best tasting coffee/hot chocolate etc. drinks no matter where in the world he is. He is often seen with a mug nearby when night comes, often defying logic and somehow having one in places that shouldnt've had them around, like in the movie theater. He gained his cutie mark by... well... being good at providing the best coffee and other related drinks to the ponies of Equestria.

Personality: His Sleepy self: A strange mix of mellow, eccentric, and clumsy. He is relatively quiet, and a good listener... when he isn't trying his hardest to not dose off. When he hasn't had his drink, he is often seen careless and a little apathetic of the world; however this doesn't bother most ponies one bit, as for what he lacks in sleep he makes up for in excellent coffee making skills. <br /><br />His Coffee Self: When he HAS had his coffee, he is very talkative, being very cheerful and for some reason not getting too unhinged like most ponies would when taking too much of the drink. However, despite all this, he never loses his sleepy sounding voice and ever so slightly drooped eyelids, it does improve his appearance a little bit, but not enough to be too noticable.<br /><br />His Normal Self: Loyal, respectful, and a rather humorous individual, he is always happy to share a cup or two with anypony that wants to have a chat with him. He is rarely seen without his signature sleepy appearance, only losing it when he his frightened, pranked (Wide eyed, and screaming like a little colt, seeing as his common lowered awareness makes him an easy target for pranks), or serious (he can be scary when he wants to be, he isn't totally useless!). However, despite all these off-putting traits, he is perfectly able to hold a conversation, somehow never actually falling asleep when talking to someone, although, he is often found fast asleep whenever nobody needs him, seemingly taking every opportunity he can get without being rude to others. However, when a serious occasion arises, he is easily able to put off his carefree attitude and offer his assistance however way he can.

Backstory: Raised in a Canterlot orphanage and adopted by Cafe owners, he was never considered a normal bat pony. Much like Spike the dragon, he was forced to adopt regular pony habbits and behaviours (e.g Sleeping during the night, something a bat pony would never do). He enlisted in the Lunar Guard, however he was quickly booted out before he could complete his training for always falling asleep at the wrong times, and was quickly sent packing home to his adoptive parents. <br /><br />Lacking a job, his parents sympathised with him and offered him a job at their Cafe, first being a table cleaner (and doing horribly at it, he'd always pass out when he wasn't active and end up sleeping on the job), then a waiter (again, always falling flat on his face rather embarrasingly when not busy), and finally, in one final desperate attempt by his parents, stationed him at the coffee corner, where he for some reason enjoyed himself, not once falling asleep and always managing to produce the best cups of coffee for the customers. The benefit of being in charge of the hot drinks portion of the Cafe gave him a few perks, one being that he was allowed to have a cup to keep him awake (courtiesy of his parents). He'd never once fall asleep, and he went under a noticable change in personality. His once mellow and apathetic self was now cheerful, and he actually seemed normal... well, normal as long as he had his coffee, he still had the problem of minor hyperactivity when he consumed too much.<br /><br />This event quickly led to two things, the Cafe shops quick rise in popularity thanks to Sleepy's somehow amazing skills in Coffee, and the gaining of his cutie mark - a grey coffee cup, with a white cresent moon on it.<br /><br />He and the Cafe store made a name for itself very quickly, and became one of the most successful Cafe shops in Canterlot.
