Cutie Mark: Flare had always loved visiting earth cities and towns and playing with the rats and other small rodents that lived there. One day, he was flying to one of his relative's house on the outskirts of Equestria when he flew passed something that looked like a white rat. Even though he knew it was impossible (he was thousands of feet up in the air) he flew back to look. It turned out to be just that, a rat. She was white rat with wings, and she looked tired and lost. As he got closer, she flew over and landed on his nose, climbing up into his hair and curling up. He took her home, and started to wonder what would happen if he bred her with earth rats. He stayed in Ponyville for about a year, breeding rats, before returning to Cloudsdale for the moment of truth. None of the baby rats had wings, but when he set them down on the clouds, they were able to walk on them, so he dubbed it a success, and now breeds 'Cloudsdale compatible' rats for a living.

Personality: In small groups, Flare can be very outgoing and feel fine, but as the groups get larger, he starts to get nervous and would rather just not be noticed. The exception to this rule is if he has a good friend with him he's usually fine with large groups. He loves to play with small rodents and winged creatures (birds, insects, ect.) Before getting a cutie mark he had huge problems with the stress and pressure of not knowing what to do in life and was depressed a lot. Now, he's doing better, but still gets easily stressed out and stuck in ruts. Now that he knows what his special skill is, he has more time and mental capacity to explore more of himself, rather than what he can do. He really loves living with so many rats. In his mind, this means he always has a friend. He and Echo are especially close. He also tends to be completely oblivious to hints and underlying drama unless it's spelled out to him.

Backstory: His parents were very different from each other. His dad loved him a lot but his mom put too much pressure on him and kept him in the dark about much of the world as well as refusing to let him go out of the house except for school. At sixteen he left to live on his own, and found Echo shortly afterwards. Now he's living happily in his own small house near the edge of Cloudsdale. Currently, he spends most of his days breeding and selling his Cloudsdale compatible rats, or trying to figure out why/how Echo has wings and trying to find another rat with wings so he could breed winged rats.
