The Captain

Appearance: A relatively short griffon (so about the size of an average pony) with rather messily cropped hair. She wears a green and black army camouflage coloured cap.

Personality: Despite griffons having a fierce reputation, The Captain is friendly and affable most of the time. On the surface, she is often optimistic and cheerful, to the point of appearing desensitized to any horrors around her, as well as fearless. <br /><br />The Captain could also be considered intelligent if she wasn't so distracted and hyperactive all the time. She is prone to moodswings however, and can be surprisingly serious at times, although her attitude will often not be appropriate to the situation. <br /><br />She can also be quite stubborn on certain matters - for instance, if pressed she would insist quite strongly that "The Captain" is a legitimate name.

Backstory: Willamina was born into a family which would be considered very upper class; highly affluent and wealthy. Her family stayed in a rather secluded area of woodland near the border between Griffon Country and Equestria.<br /><br /> As various recessions and social and economic reforms hit Griffon Country, wealth and class slowly lost importance and meaning, but Willamina's image obsessed father still felt it paramount that she be raised a proper lady of bearing and the highest class, even as he found himself forced to partake in shadier and shadier deals to keep up an illusion of power and wealth. A true tomboy at heart, however, Willamina would often fly off to play in the woods (and subsequently get the strap) when she was younger, until she finally gave in to her father's wishes and reluctantly acted as a "proper lady" whenever he was around, despite not seeing the point. <br /><br />Whenever his back was turned, however, she continued to act in what would typically be considered a "masculine" manner. She found life incredibly restrictive, and though she would never admit it Willamina was, in a twisted sense, almost relieved when the mobsters her father had been dealing with raided the family home and descended her world into anarachy. Willamina's family and the manor staff were slaughtered, though through pure luck Willamina escaped with one of the family's many hunting rifles. With her sanity decidedly less than intact she left for the closest city, which happened to be in Equestria, started wearing a cap and cut her mane (or whatever you call the crop of hair on a griffon's head :P) to stop anypony grabbing it in a fight (and to look more like a male, in defiance of her late father). She has been going by "The Captain" ever since.
