• Twelve Gauge (Slug)

    HunterTSN

    • Age: Mid-late 40s

      Gender: Male

      Species: Unicorn

Appearance: Slug is a light tan color with a shaved black mane and bobtail. He is almost never seen without his red military police beret and a torpedo cigar. He has steel-grey eyes and is usually unshaven.

On occasion he will swap out his beret for an orange knitted cap given to him by his birth mother.

Cutie Mark: A classical red-and-white shooting target with multiple bullet holes through it. It symbolizes not only his accuracy and skill with a firearm (typically slug or sabot loaded shotguns) but more so his love of using them.

Personality: Slug has a harsh attitude and loves nothing more than an action packed gunfight. He is rash and can sometimes appear cruel and merciless, however he is loyal to his employer (at least as long as the pay is good) and he will willingly risk his life to save those that earn his respect.

Many believe that he is uneducated mercenary gun-nut, but he has a keen sense of danger and can tell when somepony is being honest or not to make up for his lack of academic schooling, he also tends to understand the obvious when everypony around him muddles the issue by over thinking it.

Slug tends to be more comfortable around griffins rather than ponies since he was raised in a mostly griffin community, even after his time in the military-police he always felt closer to griffin companions rather than pony cohorts.

Backstory: Twelve Gauge was adopted by two Griffin Kingdom immigrants (Walther and Mauser) just about as soon as he was taken from the womb. He has no memory of his birth parents, but he does keep the orange cap that was knitted by his blood mother.

His new family lived in a poor griffin neighborhood. There wasn't enough money to send him to school, so he was taught to read and write by his fathers who read him stories of famous griffonian battles and war heroes. Twelve Gauge bonded with his new fathers very quickly and they raised him as though he was their own griffin cub. He was often fed fish and small game and in his free time he would roughhouse and play sports with the other young griffins in the neighborhood.

As he matured Twelve Gauge became a very motivated an popular young colt within his community. He did chores for his neighbors until he had saved enough money to buy himself a gun so his fathers taught him how to use it and eventually offered to begin taking him on their hunting trips. It was on his third trip into the woods that he made his first kill, it was only an old hare, but it was still enough to earn him his cutie mark and solidify his goals and future.

When Twelve Gauge (who had begun to call himself Slug) turned 20, he decided to leave the nest and see the rest of Equestria, after a non-tearful but still very emotional goodbye he turned away from his small community of friends and family for a very long time. He enlisted for the Equestrian National Guard, however his rowdy behavior and tendency for insubordination towards the officers who did not earn his respect did not impress anybody. Still they recognized his skill and placed him with the Military Police stationed in Manehattan. It took him many years to finally warm up to the ponies around him, but soon he began to fit in better with the pony way of life and even forged a few friendships.

Six years into his service him and a fellow officer were going about their normal routine when a young teenage griffin ran from a shop with what was clearly stolen goods. When the thief did not stop at their shouting Slug's companion pulled a gun on the fleeing form. Not think clearly Slug pulled his own gun and put a hole in the second officers leg, allowing the desperate young griffin to make a clean getaway.

Slug was removed from his position immediately and given a 15 year sentence for using a firearm on a lawkeeper. Upon his release from prison, Slug separated himself as far from Manehattan as he could. After a brief visit to his hometown he headed for urban Hoofington in the East, where he began taking any mercenary type jobs he could get, ranging from caravan guard to bounty hunting.
