• Winterglade

    Starshine

    • Age: 27

      Gender: Female

      Species: Pegasus

Appearance: Winterglade is a rather slim Pegasus mare. Her fur is white with a very faint shade of blue, and her mane is blue with light blue stripes. She sometimes has a blue ribbon tied at the tip of her tail.

She rarely ever seen outside her house without her cape, which was made of denim. If she is required to carry a saddlebag, she would just buckle it up over the cape.

Cutie Mark: A snow crystal inside a blue ring. It represents her affinity to snow and frost.

Winter earned her cutie mark when she played under the snow with her older brother and sister for the first time on the ground. The mark appeared when she accidentally made a snow crystal out of the vapor of her breath during the snowball fight.

Personality: Winterglade is a very relaxed and nonchalant pony. She never have any strong opinion on anything, she will pretty much agree with anything anyone say to her, be it politics or flower sandwich preferences. She is not the one who would plan her actions in advance. She would rather enjoy her life as it comes instead of worrying too much on what will happen in the next few years or so.

She is rather protective of her cape, and would not let anypony to borrow it or see what's under it. She washes it biweekly and keep it at the best condition. If somepony threaten her cape, she could turn aggressive and wouldn't hesitate to trade punches.

Winterglade can be quite spontaneous and outgoing at times. She isn't afraid to go out and meet new ponies. If there is nothing interesting going on at the moment, she will try to look for something to make herself busy.

While she loves to try out new things and exploring the available options, she is afraid of upsetting anypony around her. If somepony she respects expressed their distaste, good chance she would drop whatever she is doing, promising to never do it again.

There are many subjects about her life that Winterglade would rather not talk about. If somepony asks her about those, she would try to divert the topic by speaking loudly over something trivial. If pushed too far, Winterglade would simply fly away and never look back.

Backstory: Winterglade was the third foal of a poor pegasus family that lived on the eastern outskirts of Manehattan. She lived most of her childhood on a cloud house that her father built years before. She had an older brother and sister who were all pegasi. Her father worked in the Cloudsdale Weather Factory, only coming home every few months or so, while her mother stayed at home to take care the three foals.

Winterglade lived a rather uneventful life until her 7th Hearth's Warming Eve, on which her mother decided to take her and her two siblings down to the ground to play with the snow below in a park outside Manehattan. Winterglade was very excited, considering she had never seen the ground by herself until that time. The only thing she knew about the ground that time was from other pegasi foals who made it sound like the ground below was a magical land of some sort. On that occasion, her mother gave her and her two siblings denim jackets, a gift she was very delighted to receive.

Everything started out smoothly, the three foals were having a time of their live, playing tags and throwing snowballs to each other. Winterglade suddenly earned her cutie mark when she played snowball fight with her siblings. When it was the time to go back home, an unexpected blizzard came and enveloped the land.

Separated from her mother and siblings, Winterglade was thrown off course in the blinding weather. Clutching her jacket close, she curled up into a ball next to a large tree. She had tried screaming for help, but she lost her voice under the cold. In that desperate moment she stopped struggling for life and looked around her. Everything simply stopped under the vice grip of the blizzard.

Winterglade's father was supposedly elsewhere at that point, but the stallion miraculously arrived to rescue Winterglade before the blizzard could claim her. He could only found her thanks to the dark colored jacket she was wearing, her fur and mane was simply too unnoticeable under the harsh weather. The doctor who had helped her recovering from the frostbite on her hooves also told her that without the jacket, she would've died long before her father could find her. Since then, Winterglade refused to go anywhere without the piece of clothing, even converting it into a cape when she grown too big for it.

On the age of 15, Winterglade found out that she was quite capable of creating snow. Her father took her along with him to help him work in the Weather Factory, leaving her mother and siblings behind. Due to her talent, she was assigned a permanent position in the snow division, along with other young mares with similar talents.

Many times Winterglade tried to go back home, to search for a work somewhere in Manehattan so that she wouldn't be so far away from her mother, but for an inexplicable reason her father refused to allow it. Her father would also often left her months at a time to work in a project somewhere, leaving Winterglade to work alone under the less than desirable conditions. When she reached 24 years old, Winterglade finally decided that she had had enough. She drained her savings and flew away from Cloudsdale to start her own life, never even once looked back to Cloudsdale and Manehattan.

From her savings, Winter bought a small house in the Los Pegasus. For the last three years she had been going around doing various small jobs all over the town to feed herself, but adamantly refusing any weather-related jobs. She had promised herself to never repeat the crushing monotony of her snowmaking position back in Cloudsdale. Sometimes she missed her mother and siblings back in Manehattan, but the memory of her last conversation with her father scared her too much to even consider about visiting her hometown.
