• Ziggs

    Brock Obama

    • Age: 19

      Gender: Male

      Species: Unicorn

Cutie Mark: Although hidden behind his uniform, his mark is an arrow stuck to the center of bulls eye. It means he is a talented marksman.

Personality: Ziggs is somewhat shy and anti-social, preferring to stay away from others unless they approach him first. If you know him, and befriend him, he is fairly friendly and amiable. He often roughhouses with his friends, and likes good jokes. He doesn't enjoy small talk, and if you keep him stuck for a while, he will get bored. He may not show it, but when he gets bored, his mood often deteriorates and may become a bit more serious. Even if Ziggs gets in a bad mood after a while, he will still try to act in a friendly manner, although sometimes he may come off as sarcastic.

Ziggs enjoys debates and arguments, and cares more about winning an argument and presenting facts more than other peoples feelings. This is not exception, and he can be insensitive and oblivious to others feelings. If presented in a rather delicate and or otherwise fragile emotional situation, he will become anxious and may be of no help in the situation, even making the situation worse. Ziggs has an aversion to romance, and has a slight distrust to mares in general. He often has trouble connecting to ponies of the opposite gender.

Despite some of his less then desirable characteristics, Ziggs is loyal, and if you have him as a friend, you can be assured he wont stab you in the back. Although he doesn't show it, one of Ziggs constant fears is being alone. He enjoys being in the company of his friends, and can relate to some of the less emotional and more tangible problems of daily life. Being more intelligent than he would like to admit, he could be a good candidate for advice on some more practical matters, like work and comprehension of instructions. Although, if you don't co-operate or he has to repeat his instructions, he may become frustrated.

Ziggs has a somewhat shaky work ethic, and may be prone to procrastination. Often waiting to do things just before its too late, he may come up with crafty or clever ways to get out of certain hostile or unfavorable situations. He understands materials and instructions well, and can come up with outstanding work if he is motivated enough. On certain serious matters and responsibilities however, he will not show this kind of behavior, and the task can be expected to be completed.

Ziggs is not violent, and will not make attempts to actively seek conflict even with his enemies. However, he can fight, and will defend himself if need be. Ziggs is also not particularly prone to anger, however, prolonged constant annoyances and pestering could get you some fights. When in distress, or bugged by one or another problems, Ziggs usually tries to forget about it. This has led to some repressed feelings and memories which will make him hostile or embarrassed if brought up.

Backstory: Ziggs was born to an unwed princess in a land far south of Equestria. To hide her shame, the mare gave him to one of her servants to be hidden away, never to know his true origins.

After care was placed on the maid, she was ordered to hide the young foal far away. Initially, they moved and lived in an urban town far away on the nations frontiers. This is where Ziggs would grow up, and he would stay here for much of his young life. Born with good intelligence and the development of his magical skills, Ziggs was invited to join a prestigious academy in the capital, where he would learn his ability for marksmanship and his magical talents would flourish. However, he would be ostracized in the academy for being of a perceived lower social status, and would be tormented by his homesickness for the rest of his time there.

Eventually, he got a break. Along with 10 other peers, he qualified for a magical contest among young students to demonstrate their magical talents. To the surprise of the court and the dismay of the nobles, Ziggs the underdog won, and he was awarded an appearance at the kings palace to be presented the honor of his medal. However, some of the jealous nobleman who's filly's had participated in the contest conspired against him, and they would spread the rumor that he used foul play-trickery to win. The nobles influence in the court spread the idea around like wildfire. When presented before the king, and the princess, he made a good impression on him, and almost thought of him as his grandson (Technically, he was). He became the center of attention in the royal court and the academy, to the dismay of Ziggs himself, who felt uncomfortable and confused with all the good-and negative attention he received.

Somehow, by some odd feat of fate, Ziggs had found his way back to the presence of his mother, the same one who had pushed him away 8 years earlier. Ziggs however, was unaware of this fact, and for the time being, the princesses secret was safe.

Eventually, the nobles began conspiring again, despising the idea of the king being in the presence of such a pony of lower status. This time, however, they had a trump card. They found out through dubious means, the princesses secret, and they threatened both the maid, and the princess to air the dirty laundry for every pony to see. With their secret outed, and with the princesses reputation on the line, Ziggs was pulled from the presence of the court through the influence of the princess and the nobles under the excuse of contempt. The events that were conspiring against him, all happened under the ignorance of Ziggs, and the accusation hit him with shock.

Rumor spread back at home and at the academy that Ziggs really had cheated the contest, and that the King personally had declared him a disgrace. He was tormented at this point by both his peers and professors alike, and the dean wanted him gone. He was signed for an exchange with the magical academy in Canterlot, and was to never come back to the academy ever again.

The caretaker that had been him all along, could not come along. Guardians and parents could not come through the exchange, so Ziggs was forced to take the journey to Equestria alone.

Now effectively in exile, Ziggs had now made his way to Canterlot. He attended the magical academy in Canterlot, and resumed his studies for a year. When he turned 9, he was the victim of faulty paperwork, and was sent to Ponyville by mistake. Luckily, he would fall under the care of Rarity while he was there, and he would study in Ponyville for 3 years before the error was corrected and he returned to Canterlot. He would spend the rest of his school life studying in Canterlot until he graduated at 16.

With his education completed, he now found himself free to do as he pleased. Ziggs would linger in equestria for another year, wandering the nation and training his marksmanship skills and magic.

Ziggs returned home at 17, now an adult, he had been gone for 9 years. The country had changed, and he was all but forgotten into the past. Over the next year, Ziggs would return, and settle back into the Urban city he had lived in as a young foal. Here, he worked, or subsisted doing odd jobs ranging from garbage pickup to plumbing. His skills came in handy, and became successful at many of the endeavors he tried his hoof in.

When Ziggs turned 18, he qualified for military service. Ziggs had found comfort in reading books about the nation and military history. He had become a patriot, and nationalist. When he was called into duty, he joined. For a year, he trained for service. And at 19, he graduated hoof camp and was now a soldier.

Conflict on the border had been brewing, and his battalion was called in to the situation. It is here, where Ziggs now has the opportunity to make his own path, and find his own way in life. It is here, where Ziggs story truly begins....
