Keen Blade 64 June 17, 2014 Share June 17, 2014 Hey everyone! I haven't seen anything like this, so I figured it was time for a thread to post and discuss all your favorite fan audioplays and audiobooks. I'll start with one I couldn't recommend higher: The Library of Discord by Chincillax. Written and performed by Chinchillax, The Library of Discord tells a story where Discord, post-reformation, has gone bad again, forcing the ponies to imprison him in stone once more. Unfortunately, he managed to take Spike prisoner before they did so. It turns out, long ago, Discord cast a spell to create a vast library of every possible book within his mind. To save Spike, Twilight must enter his mind and search for her friend. People, I can't tell you how amazing this story is. The central concept, of a library containing all possible books, is taken from The Library of Babel by Jorge Luis Borges, but I actually think Chinchillax explores the idea in far more interesting ways and with a more compelling story than the original. This is one of those stories that surprises you with how much character development can occur in such a relatively narrow situation. It all plays out something like a mathematical horror-adventure (you'll see what I mean), but still manages to retain the FiM spirit and attitude. Chinchillax does an excellent job recording the story as well. He delivers each character well, with clear diction, and uses sound effects to great effect. The Library of Discord remains one of my favorite all time stories, fanfiction or not, and I highly recommend you set aside an hour to listen to it- you won't regret it.
