How did you find MLP Forums?: I am currently writing a Discourse Community Paper for College, and would like to ask some questions in order, to help market you guys at my university. Also, I would like an A on this paper, and need your help!!

How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I am currently super interested in this sweet show! Plus I can Identify myself with Twilight Sparkle. Which is SUPER COOL.

I would like to ask you; As members of this AWESOME group or friends, some questions that will help me with this paper. I would like to obtain an A on this paper, and need your help. I could obtain this info via online. But perfer to get your honest imputs rather than just go online and be vague.

 

Question 1) What/Who is a Bronie? How do you classify yourself as one>

 

Questione2) What type or language do one uses to assimilate as a Bronie? Is there a specific Lingo?

 

Question 3) What kind of media does one use in order to communicate between each other?

 

Question 4) Can a girl be a "bronie" or is it just DUDES?

 

Question 5) How does one get informed about a Convention, Meet-up or any up-comming events?

 

Question 6) Which Pony do you Indentify yourself with and why?

 

Question 7) Are there diffrent levels or types of achievements through out this Community?

 

Question 8) Who is in Charge or Founded the Bronie Community?

Question 1) What/Who is a Bronie? How do you classify yourself as one> Brony comes from the word Bro and Pony, when this is put together it says Brony. Brony is an adult/teenage boy or a girl who likes the MLP show. I classify myself as not a big Brony, I'm known as a Brony in my school but I my room is not filled with pony artworks. 

 

Questione2) What type or language do one uses to assimilate as a Bronie? Is there a specific Lingo? Cant understan (awesome English from Finland

 

Question 3) What kind of media does one use in order to communicate between each other?

 

Question 4) Can a girl be a "bronie" or is it just DUDES? No! A girl can be a Brony, even-tough the Brony community is full of men, it would be fair to say that every 3rd Brony is a girl.

 

Question 5) How does one get informed about a Convention, Meet-up or any up-comming events? If I understood this right, you can just google brony meetup to google. Also you can get informed in Twitter/Facebook/Email/Youtube. Everywhere in Social Media.

 

Question 6) Which Pony do you Indentify yourself with and why? I would be Rainbowdash, I love my friends and do anything for them, Sometimes I can get a bit over-reactive and selfish. I also do a lot of sports like Break-Dancing and Climbing.  

 

Question 7) Are there diffrent levels or types of achievements through out this Community? Well, you can have your room filled up with brony stuff. You can also just have a MLP wallpaper on your computer. (this is me)

 

Question 8) Who is in Charge or Founded the Bronie Community? I think that all of us and no-one.

 

Quesiton 9) What type of Training does one have to perform or know when becoming a Bronie? Just get to know the show and the community.

1. Brony is fan of the show called My Little Pony, however it's kinda relative concept because it is up to the fans themselves if they want to identify themselves as bronies

 

2. There are some terms like brohoof which can be referred to high five or something like that and then there are words like everypony, anypony, somepony etc

 

3. There are different media outlets where brony community can communicate between themselves: I mainly use this site only so I cannot provide good information about the other sites

 

4. If a female person wants to be called brony its up to them 

 

5. I never been in convention but it is advertised through many brony websites usually

 

6. Fluttershy because I'm shy and I'm like she is

 

7. I don't think there are any levels at least I haven't heard of any levels

 

8. I don't think there are one person who founded this community

 

9. I don't believe it needs any training

 

10. It is friendly community and people here are so kind and lovely also ponies

A brony is a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. If you want to be one, you are one. Some don't like the term, but are still fans. All bronies are fans of the show, but not all fans of the show call themselves bronies. Some female fans prefer pegasister instead,

 

Questione2) What type or language do one uses to assimilate as a Bronie? Is there a specific Lingo?

 

There is some lingo, but not that many terms you need to know to get by. Internet trolls are sometimes referred to as parasprites after a species of pesky pests from the show. Brohoof is similar to fist bump or high five in nature. Mane 6 refers to the main 6 characters of the show. There are a few others I'm probably missing, but it really isn't super important. No one would be too off put by someone not using the lingo. They would probably be glad to teach you.

 

Question 3) What kind of media does one use in order to communicate between each other?

 

Usually message boards and fan sites, though obviously person to person through IM and Skype are certainly a thing among those that have become good friends. There are also clubs at some colleges, universities and high schools.

 

Question 4) Can a girl be a "bronie" or is it just DUDES?

 

A brony can be anyone, though some female fans prefer pegasister. (P.S. The singular is brony )

 

Question 5) How does one get informed about a Convention, Meet-up or any up-comming events?

 

Equestria Daily is a great source for news about those sorts of things and more. They feature them at the end of their "Nightly Roundup" stories. Message boards are also great places to meet up with fans. There's even a fan map on this site.

 

Question 6) Which Pony do you Indentify yourself with and why?

 

A bit of Twilight and a bit Applejack. Twilight Sparkle is very thirsty for knowledge, but also a bit type A personality with a need for exactness. Applejack is a very reliable and dependable, level headed pony that really helps the group mesh.

 

Question 7) Are there diffrent levels or types of achievements through out this Community?

 

If you're talking about the community as a whole, the only real levels of achievements are through popularity, usually for creative works and analysis. The big names get panels at cons.

 

Question 8) Who is in Charge or Founded the Bronie Community?

 

There really isn't anyone in charge per se, but I think I read that it started up on 4chan.

 

Quesiton 9) What type of Training does one have to perform or know when becoming a Bronie?

 

No real training is required. If you enjoy watching the show, you're in.

 

Question 10) What is your favorite aspects of being a member of a Bronie Community??

 

The love is really the big part. Lovingly crafted stories and creative works along with the just huggy happy nature of the community is just awesome. Also, what may be surprising to some is the high level intellectual interaction of some conversations.

The only qualification to be a Brony is to like My Little Pony.

 

Questione2) What type or language do one uses to assimilate as a Bronie? Is there a specific Lingo?

 

There is a bit of jargen. Somepony, anypony, nopony, herd and Brohoof are the most common. Of course there are others, all of them obviously related to horses, but I myself don't tend to use the lingo too much unless I'm just goofing around. I personally don't like the jargen (Coming from someone who was annoyed to no end about the jargen in the redwall series. Anybeast, for example.)

 

Question 3) What kind of media does one use in order to communicate between each other?

 

Mostly fan sites or forums with many bronies are already at, we tend to flock to a group. But we are still people you know, we communicate just like everyone else does.

 

Question 4) Can a girl be a "bronie" or is it just DUDES?

 

Girls aren't "bros," but they can be "Bronies." Though some prefer Pegasister.

 

Question 5) How does one get informed about a Convention, Meet-up or any up-comming events?

 

Like @@DexterousWings, said, Equestria daily is a news site for events of any kind going on in the brony community.

Myself, I think I'm more inclined toward Applejack. I work hard, and I'm only not very honest when I have something just truly horrible to say. And even then I'm having Trouble keeping that under control recently.

Not that I'm aware of. There might be a type of "class" here on these forums (Blank Flank, muffin, parasprite ect. ect.), but that's mostly just to show how long that specific member has been on the forums correlative to the number of posts they've made. There really is no acheivment levels.

 

Question 8) Who is in Charge or Founded the Bronie Community?

 

No one is in charge, were just a fan base. I think that's sort of contrary to the fandom to have anyone who is "in charge" since the show is all about overcoming challenges together rather than alone.

There's no training. YOu just have to like the show.

 

Question 10) What is your favorite aspects of being a member of a Bronie Community??

 

My favorite aspect of the brony community? Well it probably sounds more deep in my head than it actually is, but I love the Brony community for the bronies themselves. Instead of being recluses who can't look people in the eye, they are people who love to make friends with people. Instead of being people who live in their mothers basement, they are living life just like everybody else. Instead of being hermits, they are people. It's so contrary what most people say or think about bronies when all bronies are are people who happen to like a certain show. I love that they still love their show despite all of the hate they get generally.
