jeray2000 111 September 1, 2015 Share September 1, 2015 Something that I've never understood is how a song that has no lyrics about the show, and isn't a remix or directly based off the show's music, can be fan music. Can someone explain to me how these songs are fan works and not entirely original?
Mobley 113 September 1, 2015 Share September 1, 2015 (edited) I think it entirely depends on the composer's intent. A lot of music has been written which has a subject but no words so to speak; they work solely by being evocative of a given situation. So-called 'Tone Poems' are a good example of this. Pieces like Saint-saens Danse Macabre or Strauss' 'Also sprach Zarathustra'. Sometimes meaning gets ascribed after the piece is written, but ultimately the decision is usually still the composer's Similarly with fan music, if the composer wrote a piece with MLP in mind or decided upon completion that it reminded them of something to do with MLP and specified it, I wouldn't argue otherwise. Hope I gave some sort of coherent answer to your question Edited September 1, 2015 by Mobley
