The Magic Inside - Crystal Slave Remix

Reuel(Crystal Slave)

Hey there!

I was planning to remix one of this episode's songs the day it came out, and after this song brought me to tears I had more than enough inspiration to follow through. The goal of this wasn't to make something perfect, but rather to capture the emotion of the song in my own unique style. I hope you like it!

I like the piano intro in the filter. However, the gate that follows doesn't really go. I suggest you leave that out instead of keeping it there because it gives this feeling of hesitation. Also, the kick during the verse seemed to interfere with that chill feeling you were invoking with the piano and warm pads at the beginning. Just keep the high hat and remove the kick. I like the high-hat dotted eighth note syncopated pattern.

I like that sweeping white noise that followed the verse. It gave that nice chill effect.

However, the biggest peeve of this piece is that fast d&b like part. That was completely unneeded and unnecessary. It may sound good to you, but not good to me. There are just some genre switches that just don't match. What you could've done was lead into a dubstep by running your leads through a filter and slowly sweeping them out around the 5th measure of the current phrase. Around the 7th measure of the current phrase, insert a snare running on 8ths, then 16ths, followed by 32nds and finally 64ths on the first half of the 8th measure. Cut everything and add a bass drop over the last half of the eighth measure plus the pick-up line of the chorus of the song. You can then manipulate the chorus of the song as you see fit over the dubstep wubs.

All in all, it's a decent remix, but it could be improved.
