How Alicorns actually work

Since alicorns are the combination of the three races and have the strengths of all three. Strength, flight, and magic. I thought about it and I came up with a conclusion: What if alicorns have the attributes of of the three races but what if the combination weakened the individual power of each.

Example 1 : Starlight Glimmer, a unicorn, is skilled enough to match Twilight and most likely Cadence as well, and as we saw in the second season premier Celestia couldn't defeat Chrysalis on her own. You could say that was due to the power of love that she absorbed from Shining Armor and you'd be right, but we don't know how powerful she is without that love, and as far as Celestia's actual magical strength goes, we have never seen her defeat an opponent, even with the comics which aren't canon to the show by the writing staff's reckoning, Celestia's victories have always been aided by others. I haven't read much of the books but if there is information to contradict me please direct me to them. Could it be possible that as powerful as Celestia is, would she be stronger magically if she was a pure unicorn? Is she weaker than the average unicorn wizard such as Star Swirl the Bearded? Is that why she doesn't go into battle herself unless absolutely necessary.

Example 2: Twilight has had plenty of time to grow used to her wings, with the exception of the season 4 finale, is not able to fly exceptionally fast. Rainbow Dash repeatedly beats her in races but that is Rainbow Dash. As far as other pegasi go from what I've seen, and I re-watched the first five seasons just to check almost every other Pegasus is able to fly far faster and with greater skill than twilight, and Cadence's wings are even weaker than hers due to lack of use. And as far as Luna and Celestia go the only example I could find that showed actual skill was Celestia's battle with Nightmare Moon. And their aerial acrobatics weren't very impressive, kind of disappointing actually. Then you get to the actual feats of the pegasi, not just Rainbow Dash. Creating a tornado in Hurricane Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash's multiple sonic rainbooms and the incredible skill and talent that comes with the Wonderbolts and the Wonderbolts Reserve corps. Could this be a canonical confirmation that Alicorns aren't actually weaker fliers than pegasi? Given that alicorns wings are larger it would take more muscle for them to move, normally, with the fact that pegasi flight is more in part to magic than actual muscle, given what the season four finale gave us. With the larger wings it would take more strength to fly, magical or not, and the increased heaight and horn size increases the weight of the pony body. Wouldn't it make sense if alicorns were slower and less agile than pegasi?

Example 3: The strength of earth ponies is an obvious part of their race. The strength of these ponies far exceeds that of the unicorns of the pegasi, as shown in Hearts and Hooves Day, the Mysterious Mare Do Well, and all instances where Applejack is apple bucking. Please check out Firebrands Taking Earth Ponies Too Seriously, for a better example than I can explain in this message. Anyway, all these feats of strength have proven that the earth ponies magic is very impressive. Now we've been told that alicorns have earth pony strength but we've never been shown an example of this. (If there was an episode I missed where there was an example please tell me) We saw in Over a Barrel how the earth ponies had built the town in a year and during the confrontation between Sherrif Silver Star and Chief Thunderhooves lock horns, figuratively. If you recall the buffalo chief pushes against Silver Star but at the same time he is able to push back with equal or greater force, despite being far smaller than Chief Thunderhooves. Do you think that the combination of different powers within the alicorn race actually weaken each individual trait slightly or perhaps by quite a bit? Do you think it would be possible that alicorns are generally stronger as in being a sort of jack of all trades, but not be as skilled in each individual area? If not, please explain, i would love to hear your opinion.

To be honest...since alicorns have horn and wings, I'd imagine them to have equal strength in all three species. Unicorn to Alicorn means you're gaining pegasus and earth abilities. Pegasus to Alicorn means you're gaining unicorn and earth abilities. Finally, earth to alicorn means you're gaining pegasus and unicorn abilities. Remember, alicorns sprout because the user has gained a true understanding of something, like the instance of Twilight and Cadence. In the canon world, Cadence was actually a pegasus who turned into an alicorn because of her true understanding of love. So...my conclusion is that the strength of all three is equal and the alicorn has the power to emphasize one at will.
