Sophie 1,475 August 29, 2024 Share August 29, 2024 After spending nearly two hours in a field late at night, I managed to capture a photo of the Veil Nebula. The Veil Nebula is the remnant of a supernova that occurred around 10,000 to 20,000 years ago. The large star at the center of the image is known as 52 Cygni. It’s a giant star, approximately 12.4 times the size of our Sun. Although 52 Cygni is "just" 335 light-years from us, the Veil Nebula lies much farther away, at a distance of 2,400 light-years. 3 1 Don't mind me, just waiting for my pancakes.
